For the first six years, it seemed to work well in assisting with my constant moods swings, and made it easier to sleep well at night...however, afier my second child was born, I started feeling worse than ever, and my eyesight declined rapidly until I got bifocals....I still took it, but my vision worsend even more, and I became very depressed and felt very unwell, until I finally weaned off of it a few years ago, and remained on perphenazine and escitalopram, (and levothyroxine) in combination with omega 3 fish oil, a multivitamin, and magnesium, which helped tremendously,. Topamax can help with foccussing ,mood swings, and sleep initially, but I found it to eventually almost ruin my life in the longrun.... | ...Therefore i cannot recommend this drug to anyone, and would encourage people who feel they need it to seek assistance from a good and credible health food store in your area and ask their doctor for a different and much safer medication and seek a more holistic approach in their recovery☺ | F | 50 | 7 days 50 mg dail 1X day | 8/28/2020 | 1 | Weight loss | While on topiramate- suicidal thoughts, easily angered, drowsiness, confusion, felt stupid, irritability, carbonated drinks taste flat, no appetite, frequent urination. I dont know it is absolutly crazy, It is not like me.. We stopped the Topomax and within 48 hours in hospital, the bleeding stopped and my urine was clear. I had a scope and all was clear. This drug is dangerous. I lost 15kg in a month AFTER stopping it as I could not eat. I was placed on a IV for 7 days with fluid. Specialists put it a down to Topomax. Have no appetite - and this is someone who had problems with food - I'm 185 lbs at 5'7". Have severe constipation. My body can't regulate my temperature. I either feel like I'm burning up or I'm freezing. Both doctors claim the drug would be out of my system by now - It's been 2 weeks since I stopped. I know, i know, someone out there will say its from something else, but let me stop you-- i am taking NOTHING else, have a good diet, and exercise regularly. The reason my internist chose this class of drugs is because i was non responsive to ssri meds and of course did not want any weight gain-- if you can take something else-- please ask for an alternative drug. If you do not have any other choice, I wouldnt recommend this unless you have seizures etc and have NO OTHER OPTIONS--just make sure that 10-40 lbs that MIGHT come off is worth your hair--may not happen to you-- but what if it DOES-- believe me, I am not trying to scare anyone- just to warn you honestly--there are no hidden agendas in this post. I know that this medicine helps me more than any other, but I can't take it without an antidepressant, as it causes me to have crying spells at the drop of a dime for no apparent reason. I actually feel normal when I'm on this medicine.
