1  Sinus infection Bad lower back pain, anxiety DONT USE IT or STOP. Only used it a couple of times but right away had bad lower back pains. I also had bad anxiety. I was scared I had kidney failure or had really torn some muscles, but hadnt lifted anything heavy so it was baffling me. If your having bad lower back pain stop taking this stuff, drink water, rest, it will keep hurting for at least a week but will go away. The medicine itself did not help my breathing at all - 0%. Use mucinex or nyquil. Long hot showers also relieve congestion. Take a hot shower every night right before bed. M 29 3 days

4  To keep my sinuses open Twitchy eye and, later, twitches in my cheek and chin. When I stop taking it, they go away within a week. I had surgery on my sinuses and Flonase does seem to help keep them open. M 0 12 months

3  Sinus Infection Sleeplessness, palpitations, racing heart beat, chest pains, and pain just below the left shoulder (on my back) when breathing. The medication was very effective in relieving the symptoms (congestion, mouth breathing, mucus production) but resulted in post-nasal drip and several unsettling side effects. M 27 5 days

2  pressurized eustachian tubes tingling in face/sinuses, dizziness, heightened sensitivity in nose and throat, low-grade headache, insomnia I was suffering from some constricted and pressurized eustachian tubes--no fluid or blockage, just contricted tubes. Doctor prescribed flonase to hope that the topical steroid would help relax and open the tubes. I had been experiencing some dizziness due to the constricted tubes, but this is different. I feel a bit anxious all the time, my head is "loopy" and I have not been sleeping well the past few nights. I fall asleep OK, but then wake up several hours later and cannot fall back to sleep, despite how tired I am. I also began experiencing a tingling in my sinuses behind my cheeks which I thought might be a sinus infection or similar, but I now think it is the flonase that has brough about that sensation. My ears are now unconstricted and I do not think the flonase contributed to that. I have decided to stop taking flonase any more and I'm interested to see what will happen with the sensations in my face, the dizziness and insomnia--my guess is that they all eventu F 42 4 days

1  nasal congestion I took Flonase for 13 days and the first few days felt a little anxious and thought I was getting a touch of the flu. I felt better a couple days after that, but then had the worst week of my life! I had diarreah, chills, extreme nausea and no appetite, weight loss, anxiety, depression, fatigue, trouble sleeping, muscle and joint pain, light headedness. Again, I thought this was a virus or maybe hormonal changes. I went to a chiropractor and got adjusted which helped with the pain, but after meeting with a nutritionist/Chiropractor he told me to stop taking Flonase. I'm slowly feeling like my self again.I was so happy to find others going through the same side effects and realize I'm not going crazy! I will never take this drug again! Who new from a nasal spray, I'll stick to the netti pot for my congestion. M 42 13 days

1   emotional, headaches, ANXIETY! I am a college student 5 hours from home, went home over Thanksgiving and got prescribed Flonase. Thought it would be better than a runny nose, but it IS NOT! Before I left for break I hadn't had that great of an appetite but I go through phases. When I returned to school I began to take the Flonase. By the 4th day I couldn't stop crying, had major headaches and major anxiety kicked in. I didn't know what to do with myself. My mom ended up coming up and getting me into a doctor. She put me on a relaxer to settle my stomach and settle some anxiety but now I've found this site and realized that it's Flonase causing my problems. I do not recommend this at all. I think I'm still dealing with some anxiety but the Flonase made it so much worse. My heart also raced and I feel nausea at times. Bad decision, but I'm glad I found one solution to my problem, to stop taking this. F 18 7 days

5  nasal congestion issues None Flonase is a steroid and for that reason it needs to be taken regularly to see proper results. Taking it as needed is the worst idea a doctor can give a patient because steroids work much more effectively when taken regularly. M 20 5 years

1  nasal congestion, allergies EXHAUSTED, disoriented/ditsy/out-of-it/mental fog/dizzy, muscle aches and weakness, nausea on/off Using the generic. My doctor prescribed this during a sinus/ear infection with the expectation of it replacing my Zyrtec long term. I didn't associate my feelings with the drug until I checked online this morning, I just thought I might have a touch of the flu with my immune system already down. However, after reading everything here, too many experiences sound very familiar. I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow and plan to get off this med ASAP. F 39 14 days

1  SINUS CONGESTION WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!! HELP!!! I immediately couldn't sleep. The congestion gone, but I could care less about that now. I only took the reccomended dose. This was 10 days ago, and I'm still not back to normal, I have high anxiety, and worse, complete insomnia. Nothing works! After 2 nights of not sleeping, I felt I was going crazy, went to the ER on Thanksgiving (Happy Holidays! bah!) and they just summed it up to anxiety, gave me just a couple lorazepam and didn't believe it could "still be in my system". I tried a whole bottle of wine, sleeping aids, some of my mom's trazedone, NOTHING. Well still after not sleeping, I went to the follow-up doctor. Of course, no help. Told me to try benadryll. Of course, didn't work. The only way I can sleep is after a night of NOT sleeping, and knocking myself out with one of my mom's tramazepams, a lorazepam (i got from the ER, almost out), and I add a melatonin and sleepytime tea in for good measure. WHY ISN'T IT OUT OF MY SYSTEM? WHY WON'T THE SIDE EFFECTS GO F 24 2 days

1  sinus trouble made congestion worse, bizarre flower taste, disoriented My left sinus is still blocked somewhat after 3 weeks of netti pot, afrin and/or augmentin. The augmentin killed infection so headache not as severe lately; afrin worked well but can't use regularly because of "rebound"/addiction potential. So the PCP prescribed flonase; I must be allergic because it had total reverse effect.I used a netti pot to get the flonase out and fortunately that worked and I also made some progress on left sinus. The netti/saline routine stings and leaks but I'm very wary now of chemical remedies. Why get addicted or feel worse? M 56 1 days

1  Allergies and Sinus Itchy Rash all over my body (almost immediately after taking and continuing to this day), joint and muscle pain--swelled fingers and knuckles (4 days after taking and continuing to this day), severe throat pain (similar to strep throat)3 days after taking. Throat pain cleared up on the day I stopped taking Flonase...my PCP referred me to an ENT specialist, but turns out I'm just allergic to my allergy medication. I will have been officially off of Flonase for one week tomorrow and am still experiencing the terrible rash and joint/muscle pain and swelling...just wondering when it will end. F 25 12 days

1  sinus problems i gained a TON of weight very quickly - twenty pounds in probably six weeks! - and had a lot of increased anxiety; i had trouble focusing and felt anxious all the time. i also developed a patch of pimples above my nasal cavity on my forehead that would not go away no matter what. using flonase everyday also made my sinuses dependent on it, so i would have a really bad reaction on days when i would try to not take the medication. i do NOT recommend flonase. i have to drop all of this weight now.  1  Allergies Rapid weight gain, drop in potassium, aggressive and angry behavior, twitching eye lid, terrible dry hacking cough, followed by congestion. I took this for about 3 weeks and when I really started gaining weight so fast, I knew there was a problem. I don't gain weight like that. Plus, I didn't feel like myself at all. I didn't realize it would have that type of reaction in my system. I am tossing this out and will never ever take again. I just want to know how long it will take to get this out of my system. Does anyone know of a way to speed up the process? I want to get back to normal!! F 44 3 weeks

1  chronic sinus problems Blocked ears, crackling sound when swallowing, headache I tried Flonase for 10 days, then went back to the doctor because of swelling and congestion in my ears that occurred after about three days of Flonase use. Now I'm on Prednisone (steroids) for 9 days to reduce the swelling. My doctor thinks I should continue trying the Flonase, but how many steroids does a person want to take? Taking another drug to deal with the side effects of the first drug seems crazy. I didn't have blocked ears before I started the Flonase, and I can't keep taking Prednisone to alleviate the side effects. I know Sudafed isn't good, but it always worked. I hope my doctor can think of something else I can try because I won't continue with Flonase. It also affected my sense of taste, particularly with coffee and milk/cereal. F 53 10 days

1  sinus and allergy problems after taking about 3 weeks, tingling and burning in arms and face, high blood pressure, abdominal problems, weakness, several nights in a row not sleeping, nervous, anxious, heavy nosebleed, blurring of eyes, and eyes were so bloody looking. I have been off Flonase for four days now and I am finally beginning to feel better. I would have never guessed it was the Flonase, if I hadn't found this sight. I also found out from another website that Flonase can lower the blood cells that help your body fight infections. It also says to avoid people who are sick or have infections. I was ready to go to the emergency room 2 or 3 times, until I read this. Under NO circumstances would I ever take Flonase again F 66 28 days
