2  For Brain fog from allergies I took Flonase through the allergy season for the first time. I usually take only Zyrtec, but this year after having covid last December, I had brain fog for many months that both Zyrtec and Flonase helped with. Even during periods where pollen was low, I'd have bad flare ups. I concluded that the Flonase was giving me too much anti-inflammation, so when it wore off I was taking more only to treat the side effects of the Flonase wearing off, and didn't actually need it for pollen most days. I had few side effects while on the drug except sometimes more energy and occasionally panicky feeling, but mostly I just got relief so I kept using. It's been almost two weeks since my last dose quit cold turkey. I thought I was sick over thanksgiving, but never had other symptoms just brain fog, fatigue, and a little congestion. Sleep tracker also says breathing a slower and more labored. Overall I feel like I have a low level head cold. The withdrawal effects from Flonase wax and wane. Some moments I'm fine, others I'm achy and tired. Overall my energy level went from 8/10 while on the drug to about 6/10 in withdrawal. I also get weird achy pains in some bones. My biggest issue is sleep disturbance/insomnia. I can deal with mild physical symptoms, but for me the strangest side effect of Flonase withdrawal is it seems to cause me to wake up more than usual. I sometimes wake u M 34 7 months

1  Eustachian tube dysfunction Original post 10/15/22 Extreme anxiety, high blood pressure, palpitations, vivid dreams, racing pulse. The withdrawal included muscle spasms, adrenaline jolts, body jerks, overall feeling like crap due to it depleting potassium and sodium out of my system. UPDATE: 11/28/22 After 8 weeks the only symptoms remaining are occasional episodes of insomnia and muscle twitches. It does get better with time and patience. This crap should be illegal! I spent 2 days in the hospital due to extremely low electrolytes after using this stuff and having the worst panic attack of my life. Thankfully I went to the emergency room! F 45

1   Support Looking for support from those that have been affected from Flonase that have recovered. I’m sure many revisit these posts. If you could briefly tell your recovery story and post it on here for others or email it to me to send to those requiring it, that would be very helpful to the new people. Please list how long you took it. How long it took you to feel better and any tips or suggestion that made recovery better. Any info would help.

1  Allergies, sinus infections I always had headaches, bloody noses, vision problems. I was on flonase for 7 years. Never was told that I shouldn't be on it. I finally went off it cold turkey, because of the bad headaches. Was always still stuffy anyhow. Now have headaches, vision problems, feels like I'm spacey, drunk. It's been about 3 month's since I've stopped. I feel so sick, cold chills, feeling hot.... what do I do??? I would never use again, or tell anyone else to use. F 56 7 years

1  Allergies I was taking Flonase for about 1 month, I didn't realize that it was effecting me until I had a full blown panic attack... I couldn't pin point what it was since that has never happened to me.. My heart skipped beats , heart palpitations, anxiety.... Now I've been off of it for 3 full days now and though I'm not feeling nearly as anxious anymore I still get some skipped heartbeats... Taking it one day at a time, I'm thinking my body is probably In withdrawal mode and hopefully this resolves soon Would not recommend this . Also like to add that while I was taking Flonase I would wake up frequently at night with a racing heartbeat, since I've been off of it I have not experienced this anymore M 35 30 days

1  allergies It all started with debilitating anxiety and waking at night. I never made the connection to taking Flonase until I recently started experiencing adrenaline jolts at night. I would barely fall asleep and be jolted awake with racing heart and anxiety. This would happen all night long and I would not get any sleep. I started researching online and found this forum. I believe it all to be related to Flonase. I stopped taking 6 days ago. I still experience nightly adrenaline jolts and anxiety but have seen some decrease in the intensity. I have been having headaches too. I've been seeing a therapist to deal with anxiety for the past two years. It's crazy to imagine all my troubles could have been as a result of this drug. I will never take again! Like others, I would like to know how long symptoms will last after stopping use. Will I get my life back? I am grateful to have found this forum. Please email me if you have any insight to give. I was very surprised to learn this is a corticosteroid. There needs to be better information about this drug and its side effects. I feel like I've lost 3 years of my life. F 46 3 years

1  deviated septum HORRIBLE!! My poor son and our poor family thought the worst. My 8 yr old son had been taking this nasal spray for 5 weeks before we realized that everything that he was experiencing was because this drug. Since he is only 8, it was hard for him to describe his symptoms, but we often heard heavy head, headaches, pressure all over his head, blurry vision, lights look weird, nystagmus (skipping vision), pain behind ears, echoing hearing, severe stomach pain, eczema (never had before), dizziness/unbalanced, and the WORST of all this drug caused my happy-going 8 yr old son to have suicidal ideations!! He was depressed and has never struggled with his mental health before. We have seen his pediatrician, ENT, and currently have a neurology and MRI appt scheduled in a few days. All professionals so far, including poison control have never heard of any of these complaints being related to Flonase. They treated up like we were crazy, but everything we are reading here and under "extremely Just say NO!! Caused sudden depression and suicidal ideas in my 8 yr old!! M 8 5 weeks

1  Sinus pressure and congestion I am a 48 yo psychologist with zero prior history of anxiety. 5-7 days after starting Flonase, I woke up at 5am in the first of many full blown panic attacks and then had totally paralyzing physical anxiety symptoms and panic for the next month. It all felt totally physiological and not at all psychological. It took me about 3 days after the initial onset to make the Flonase connection (online) after which I stopped taking it but it still took another month of Lexapro, Buspar and occasional small doses of Xanax until I began to return to some semblance of normal functioning. Five years later, I'm mostly fine but I am now extremely sensitive to caffeine, which was never a problem before. I now warn all patients about this risk and, when someone presents with anxiety and panic out of nowhere, I always ask about steriods. F 48 10 days

3  Allergies Used it for several years off / on with latest round lasting about 6 months. Always had to gradually get into using it; otherwise, I would experience anxiety attacks. Stopped using it in early September as it was drying me out too much and I was getting nose bleeds. I stopped it cold turkey. Since stopping I have experienced major anxiety along with panic attacks. While prone to anxiety, I had not had a major attack or a panic attack in years. It has been 4 weeks since stopping and the anxiety and panic seem to be gradually improving. M 59 6 months

1  Seasonal Allergies / General Sinus I took this sporadically for almost 3 years. I started to experience weird Surges of panic at about the 2.5 year mark. Was seen by numerous doctors and none of them concluded it was the onase, yet found no other cause for my panic and anxiety. All my vitals checked out normal. After my last bout of late summer allergies, I decided to stop taking it cold turkey. A day or two after my last dose, I went to the ER with the worst panic attack of my life. It lasted over 3 hours and I thought I was dying; fainting feeling, limp limbs, numb arms and legs, shortness of breath, dizziness, depression, vibration in body, no appetite and nausea. I am a normally healthy adult male that has been crippled the past 2 weeks with debilitating anxiety and panic which lasts 4+ hours every single morning since I stopped. Still, none of my doctors seem to think that flonase is the issue. I don't know what else it could be. M 45 3 years

1  Allergy It took a while to figure out it was Flonase causing my issues. Same as the previous posts. In fact I went to my Dr feeling a lot of pressure in my head, raised blood pressure and mild panic attacks. His response was to raise my dose of Flonase and take blood pressure meds. So I took Flonase for two more months when I was at the end. I was having panic attacks lasting full days. I thought I was going to die. Most people here ask how long to feel better. All I can say for me it was about 4 weeks. The 1st week being the worst with the added withdrawals from the medication. I looked up vitamins that aide in adrenal production. It will get better even though your mind is stuck thinking it never will. I had some days where I stayed in bed all day. Luckily I have a flexible job, if I had a normal 9-5 there would be no way. It will get better, I know it can get scary and thats just part of the panic part of the after affects. Just know your not alone, this has happened to a lot of people. Also, my Dr still refuses to accept that this could of happened. There are too many of us with the same experience to say its not the case. M 42 4 months

1  Nasal Congestion/Ear Pressure I have been having issues with heat intolerance, dizziness, fatigue, head feeling pressure, and heavy, limb fatigue, lower back pain, and vision hurts to focus. Gone to the emergency when I feel like I am going to faint. Feeling very emotional and I am not a person who cries. I also have been feeling suicidal over minor incidents. Hopeless feeling and I feel pressure in my chest. I get chills when I am in hot weather. 2 days off of Flonase and I feel nauseous and I also had a low cortisol test. My adrenal glands were checked and fuctioning normal so something my cortisol to lower. I am pretty sure it was the flonase . I also have had all other labs come back normal Being check tomorrow for nerve damage F 38 2 years
