1  Extreme nasal congestion and asthma Extreme anxiety, aggitation, feelings of panic and restlessness, headache, hot flashes. I felt like I was losing my mind. A sense of doom overwhelmed me. When it occured to me that it might be the Flonase and I saw the vast numbers of reviews reporting the same side effects, I immediately discontinued use. It took a week to feel like myself again. Fortunately, I didn't take it long enough to experience permanent effects. I have reported my terrible reaction to this drug to Glaxo and to my doctor. I can't believe this is an over the counter medication. BAD DRUG F 69 5 days

1  possible sinus issue Mucus turned green, severe sore throat, lethargy, etc and flonase did nothing to help my issue I would not recommend this drug. It took a minor issue and made it much worse (severe sore throat, green mucus, lethargy). I had a viral sinus infection when my doctor prescribed it and luckily I read the package insert when the above issues started/my viral infection, which had been healing, came back immediately.  1  Allergies Severe Anxiety, Insomnia I used the recommended two squirts per day for each nostril for a week and then reduced it to one dose from the second week on. About the middle of the third week, I began to get severe anxiety and started having a hard time sleeping at night. This went on for another another two weeks until I stopped using flonase. It took several days for the anxiety to go away. After having researched this drug, anxiety and insomnia have been reported by a number of users. These side effects should be listed for the drug as I would be doing much better now if I had figured out the cause weeks ago. This crap made me feel like I was losing my mind. Don't use it, especially considering the other bad side effects. M 46 35 days

1  Chronic Sinusitis / Seasonal allergies Flonase worked great for the sinus issues, but the side effects were horrible. I saw lightening bolts in my left eye twice about a week apart for about 10 minutes each time, was extremely irritable, had strange headaches in the back of my head, had a strange sensation in my nose that would come and go and experienced anxiety attacks that were sometimes along with the nose sensation. I also experienced tingling in my arms and face that led me to the ER because I thought I was having a stroke. All stroke tests ie CT and neurological tests came back negative. When the doctors asked what medication I was taking and I only said flonase they didn't give it another thought and a later follow up appointment with my primary told me the symptoms weren't related. I stayed the night in the hospital and didn't realize the flonase was the culprit until a couple days later as it was the only thing that had changed for me. I stopped taking it and slowly felt better and more myself over the next I was prescribed flonase (costco generic) twice in each nostril once daily because I have seasonal allergies and I have chronic sinusitis (inflammation in my right maxillary sinus), along with a deviated septum and a nasal polyp also on the right side. Normally I can breathe fine, but it becomes more difficult breathing during the seasonal allergies. M 37 14 days

1  Seasonal Allergies Anxiety, depression, racing thoughts. My brain hurt. Thought I was losing my mind. Last year I started Flonase in May and ended up experiencing the above side effects all summer. I am in the military and luckily they don’t kick you out for depression anymore. I got put on Lexapro in August and a few weeks later I felt better. I also quit taking Flonase at that time. Fast forward to this summer. Starting using Flonase again not knowing that is what caused the side effects the year prior and sure enough all the exact issues returned even while still on Lexapro. I finally put two and two together and stopped the Flonase two weeks ago tomorrow. I am already feeling better but am still having some bad days. I am confident the Flonase is what caused me to lost my damn mind. I have a feeling it was because I was unable to keep from swallowing some of it because once my nose was clear it drained unimpeded down my throat. If you decide to use Flonase be careful no to swallow it. If you start to feel anxious/depressed I recommend stopping it. The stuff pushed me to the brink of insanity. Terrible experience.  1  Allergies Horrible...headaches, muscle pain, severe fatigue, sore eyes and throat, red flushed face, severe lack of energy in the morning. I went to ER several times...drs. Thought I was crazy. It turned out I had low cortisol...yes it can cause adrenal suppression! NEVER AGAIN. Should have more warnings about side effects. I'm worried about children taking this stuff. I felt like I was dying. 66 20 days

1  Fluid in Right Ear Was directed to use 1 spray per nostril, per day. Began experiencing elevated pain and pressure in right ear and eye. Extreme anxiety. Tinnitus. Tingling/burning sensation of my scalp. Went to ER twice because I thought I had a more severe sinus infection like Sphenoid Sinusitis, temporal arteritis, or even a stroke, pain was so severe. CT scan and labs came back clear. Found this website and threw the bottle right in the trash. Anxiety subsided in 24 hrs. Head tingling almost gone. For some people this might work. This was my experience, it was scary and costly and I still have to go back for another Dr visit because it did nothing to clear my ear up. F 38 5 days

1  Allergies Two extreme cases of Vertigo that sent me to the ER. Told doctors there that I had started using Flonase and they were the ones that told me that one of the side-affects of Flonase can be Vertigo. I stopped using this nasal spray and have not had any further Vertigo episodes for five years now. I would never recommend this medication to anyone. Not enough info on the label about potential side-affects and I believe this is intentional. F 65 7 days

1  Chronic sinusitis Never will I use this stuff again. Started with always smelling smoke then began daily headaches, dizzy, facial flushing, ear fullness, blood in nose, pain in bridge of nose, blurred vision and anxiety. Spent countless amount of time and money on specialist and medical testing due to side effects of this drug. This drug should be removed from shelves. Hopefully these symptoms are reversible.  1  Vasomotor Rhinitis Anxiety, weight gain, depression, SERIOUS insomnia (thought I was going crazy). Quit jobs due to the side affects impacting my life. I suffer with a rare form of Vasomtor Rhinitis that only 5% of the population have, and this was the only spray that helped... its a shame as I can’t sleep with the spray and can’t sleep without it due to my condition Only use for a very short-term, and don’t use if you’re drug sensitive 26 1 years

4  Allergies, sinusitis Had a headache when I first started it. Switched to the “sensimist” version and did much better. Only ever had one nosebleed while on it. Came off it after 2 years because I wasn’t sure I still needed it. Deciding to go back on it after a 5 month period of not using It with spring allergies firing up. Having the same headache from starting back up but after the second dose I can already breathe better and my ears aren’t clogged. Can’t do the regular one, have to use the one without fragrance- which is more expensive. 32 2 years

1  Nasal stuffiness at night After my written review on the 2nd of December, I currently still have the following side effects from this medication. I see triple smeared images and Starbursts from light sources that not even glasses could correct, and the eye doctor could see nothing wrong with my eyes. I still seem to have what appears to be tardive dystonia; my neck still moves back and forth on its own, giving the illusion of 24/7 vertigo and making it hard to walk. My lower body seems to do the same. It has not improved much in the 8 months I have stopped taking Flonase. I had shortness of breath that gradually got less severe as the months went on. Initially, I would wake up at night unable to breathe, feeling like I was going to pass out, to being at work on the floor feeling like I was going to pass out, to heavy discomfort, to minor discomfort, and now it seems to have almost completely gone away. The doctor who performed a lung function test noticed improvement after using the Albuterol, but my regular doctor after looking at the report said my lungs were fine. I no longer need antidepressants or need to see a psychiatrist from the mood related effects this drug had on me. Scary stuff that this med is still affecting me 8 months after discontinuation; I wish I had never used it. Never use this garbage for any reason. Try to use only saline or NeilMed Sinus Rinses. Less risk of permanent side effects. M 22 2 months

1  Allergies I’ve used Flonase for chronic nasal congestion on and off the past couple years. I don’t ever use it for more than a couple days at a time because i would lose my sense of smell using it. Just recently, I started using it again since my allergies were getting pretty bad. I used it for two consecutive days and I noticed a bad after taste in my mouth. The bitter after taste hasn’t gone away and it’s been two or three days now. I am thinking it’s the Flonase that caused it. After reading all of these comments, the whole anxiety thing totally makes sense now. I’ve had a couple anxiety attacks and never thought it was correlated to Flonase. What an eye opener. I will not be using this medication anymore. Why don’t they have these side effects on the labels? That’s terrible! F 34 0 days
