1  Nasal Congestion Body aches, numbness, dizziness, light headedness, anxiety, panic attacks, upset stomach, weakness, fatigue So most of my side effects are covered by the listed side effect of hypercortisolism, also known as cushings syndrome. Apparently it's possible the drug can get absorbed into your bloodstream or you can have a sensitivity to corticosteroids which can lead to an imbalance of your cortisol levels. Cortisol is what regulates stress levels in your body, which explains the anxiety and panic attacks. It can also cause joint pain and the other side effects I listed. Knowing what's going on was super helpful to me, so I just want to share in case it helps someone else who's feeling super uneasy in the future. It's pretty important that if you've been taking it for a while you don't just stop cold turkey from what I've read. Symptoms apparently can take up to a week or two to go away completely. It's been about a week since my last dose and I'm finally starting to feel pretty normal, but it's important that you take care of yourself as if you were sick - lots of fluids, etc. The half life of fluticasone propionate (the main ingredient of flonase) is 7.8 - 16 hours, so it can take 4-5 times that duration for it to work its way out of your system if you haven't been using it for a long time. If you're having anxiety, hang tight - it goes away! M 26 3 days

1  Allergy PostNasalDrip/clogged ear horribly off balance/dizzy I get post nasal drip and clogged ears this time of year and thought I'd try Flonase with my claratin. It REALLY helped with my ear and post nasal drip but by the 3rd day I was so off balance/dizzy. I didn't put the two together but after 4 days of misery, I didn't take it today and I am not off balance. MISERABLE! Helped but not worth the side effects. F 41 7 days

1  Nasal congestion Dizziness, headache, occasional heart palpitations. This did clear up my allergies but the side affects leave me miserable and in bed all day. I am definitely never taking this again. A good alternative is nasonex... it works great and doesn't have the crazy side affects F 17 2 days

1  Seasonal Allergies Anxiety, minor panic attack, pain behind eyes, dry mouth and throat, very thirsty, swollen throat, frequent urination, limb numbness, insomnia, detached from reality feelings, weird taste in mouth Took flonase for two days just fine. Dried out my nose and opened sinuses really well. Third day felt some intense pressure behind my eyes, and felt swollen throat, anxiety, and pain in neck, jaws, and a little bit in my back. Anxiety lead to me visiting the ER where they washed out my eyes. ibprofuen seemed to help with some of the swelling. Most unnerving part of the whole situation was that when it was the most intense my limbs would have some numbness. About 12 hours since my last dose and can't wait for it to wear off and for things to go back to normal. Already quite a bit better, but made it so I can't sleep. Won't be taking this again, probably one of the most terrifying experiences I've had the unfortunate pleasure of experiencing. M 26 3 days

1  Seasonal Allergies Severe Headache; Increase in Congestion; Pain in Ears and Pressure behind my eyes; upset stomach; fatigue. I would not recommend this product. Too many side-effects for the couple of hours of easier breathing I experienced. Waste of money. F 54 3 days

3  Allergies to pollen Face along jaw line and chin started to go numb as if I had been given novacane at the dentist. Works great for my very bad seasonal allergies, but very concerned about numbness in face and stopped immediately when symptoms appeared after several weeks. F 34 3.5 weeks

1  hay fever, pollen season Almost total loss of smell. The pollen count in my city has skyrocketed and without consulting my doctor, I decided on the spur-of-the-moment to try Flonase over-the-counter. I used it once, two sprays in each nostril per directions. Within an hour, my symptoms were greatly decreased. I was so happy. Then I checked the product's reviews on the internet and saw that it is a corticosteroid. If I had realized this, I wouldn't have taken it. (The word "corticosteroid" is not in the Quick Start Guide.) I did not take any more. That was two days ago. Today I noticed that I do not seem to have much sense of smell. I can barely even smell natural gas. So I read the reviews again and saw this mentioned as a possible side effect. Also many people have complained about this happening to them. It has undeniably happened to me. I just hope my sense of smell returns. (By the way, this side effect is not listed in the literature that comes with the product; nor is it listed on the company’s website as a possible side effect.) F 70 1 days

3  Sinus/ear problems/couldn't hear vertigo, dizziness, and then on the seventh day I became extremely fatigued and stopped taking it. Also, this could be a total coincidence, but I developed a massive chalazion in my right eye while on this stuff I rated it a 3 because it DID help my ears. But wow - the side effects were pretty crazy. Use caution for sure and monitor yourself closely while taking this stuff. M 43 7 days

1  Allergies and sinuses Went to urgent care because my face was numb, tingling feeling, and thought I was going to pass out, heart palpitations and shortness of breath. When I got there my blood pressure was 160 over 120. Told the dr I was on Flonase and she said nope that's not it. For sure it was! No doubt. Thank goodness for facebook and someone warned me about this and then I found this site. F 36 2 days

1  Allergies Flu like symptoms I got it because pollen is terrible right now and I was sneezing uncontrollably. Once I did it I noticed my throat beginning to hurt. By the next morning I was extremely conjested with extreme sinus pressure, body aches and fatigue. I was in bed for two days with no appetite or energy. Definitely wasted my money. M 30 1 days

1  Vertigo / ear congestion/ Day 2 woke up in the middle of the night with both arms asleep, very dry throat and exstemely fatigued, body aches and hard to focus. I am not sure if the cure is worth the side effects. Last year I had 3 stints installed in my heart and I still take a lot of medication. M 55 2 days

4  allergies none I have used Flonase on and off for years and has worked for me with no side effects. I'm not too sure about this new non-prescript that just came out, I'm still testing it to see if it works but still no side effects for me.. The original I used to take at night and this one says it's non-drowsy so I'll only take it in the morning. Sux though because I take Claritan D 24 in the AM as it is also non-drowsy so I'm not sure about this new Flonase as that would be a double no drowsy and I won't be able to sleep. I'm talking Flonase on weekends for now when I don't have to go to work and be exposed to perfumes and other allergens as much. F 41 30 days
