| 1 | Nasal Congestion | Body aches, numbness, dizziness, light headedness, anxiety, panic attacks, upset stomach, weakness, fatigue | So most of my side effects are covered by the listed side effect of hypercortisolism, also known as cushings syndrome. Apparently it's possible the drug can get absorbed into your bloodstream or you can have a sensitivity to corticosteroids which can lead to an imbalance of your cortisol levels. Cortisol is what regulates stress levels in your body, which explains the anxiety and panic attacks. It can also cause joint pain and the other side effects I listed. Knowing what's going on was super helpful to me, so I just want to share in case it helps someone else who's feeling super uneasy in the future. It's pretty important that if you've been taking it for a while you don't just stop cold turkey from what I've read. Symptoms apparently can take up to a week or two to go away completely. It's been about a week since my last dose and I'm finally starting to feel pretty normal, but it's important that you take care of yourself as if you were sick - lots of fluids, etc. The half life of fluticasone propionate (the main ingredient of flonase) is 7.8 - 16 hours, so it can take 4-5 times that duration for it to work its way out of your system if you haven't been using it for a long time. (The word "corticosteroid" is not in the Quick Start Guide.) I did not take any more. That was two days ago. Today I noticed that I do not seem to have much sense of smell. I can barely even smell natural gas. So I read the reviews again and saw this mentioned as a possible side effect. Also many people have complained about this happening to them. It has undeniably happened to me. I just hope my sense of smell returns.
