DEPO-PROVERA  (MEDROXYPROGESTERONE ACETATE):  This medication is used to treat certain types of cancer (such as uterine cancer, kidney cancer). Medroxyprogesterone is like a natural hormone called progesterone made by the body. It is usually used with or after other treatments (such as radiation, surgery).  1  Birth Control Beyond terrible, an intense amount of pain, constant headaches and mood swings are awful. This is ruining my life. Bled for 3 weeks straight with lots of abdominal pain. No one should take it F 19 2 months

 1  Prevent pregnancy, try a new BC Severe headaches Severe neck pain Vision issues Constantly hungry, weight gain I have never had any health issues or headaches in my life! I've only had one shot so far (2 months ago) and will ABSOLUTELY not get another!!! I wish I had done more research before choosing this terrible birth control. My headaches started a few weeks after getting the shot, and have continued everyday since. Sometimes I can't concentrate while driving or at work. I DO NOT recommend anyone trying this drug.  1  prevention I hve been on depo since Sept I got very very sick after taking this injection 💉. Had extreme headaches that caused papilladima and 6th nerve palsy. My Drs say its unlikely depo would cause this but I know I deteriorated straigt after taking this killer drug and they did mri scans and all sorts of tests but cannot find the cause.hospitalised for almost a month. I still experience a slight headach my skin went two colours. I regret the day I injected this because I'm still recovering from double vision. DO NOT USE THIS. I WISH THE NURSES WPULD ADVISE US BETTER I almost went blind because of this I would not advise anyone to use it. F 25 2 months

 1  Stop heavy periods One week after my first injection my headaches are unvearable , neck pain and my right eye hurts all the time. Mood swings are terrible! I will NEVER get another shot EVER! And wish I had come across this site 2 months ago! F 43 2 months

 1  Birth control Horrible! Extreme depression, anxiety and paranoia, had to be put on an antianxiety medication, non stop crying, cold sweats, hair loss, non stop vaginal pain, have had 3 yeast infections, a uti, this shot gave me bv, can not have sex at all, so painful, irregular bleeding, joints ache, tingling sensations, uretha pain, have lost weight from all the pain I've been in. NO dr will listen to me, or help me figure out what is wrong, worst 2 months of my life. Will not be getting another shot. I can only hope and pray all my symptoms go away after the shot wears off.  1  Prevent pregnancy Headaches , loss of appetite, weight loss, muscle twitches, joint pain, dry eyes , depression, slight acne, stomach issues 2weeks after the depo I started having muscle twitches, it has now been almost 2 months and I am still having the twitches! When I first off the shot I cried all the time .. I lost 8 lbs in the first 3 weeks ! I wouldn't recommend this for anyone F 30 2 months

 1  Try something new Anxiety, random bruising all over my legs, joint pain, muscle pain and weakness, lower back pain, chest pain, rapid heart rate, heart palpitations, panic attacks, keratosis pilaris. I started depo because I wanted to try something new. Im a smoker and they said it was safe. Two days after I got the shot I had a panic attack unlike one I've ever had. I felt like I was having a heart attack. I've been taking taurine to help my anxiety. Its been the worst two months of my life. Ive had nothing but problems. I'll get random chest pain that will last for weeks and out of nowhere. I get rapid heart beats that I can feel through my whole body and feels like I'm dying. I would not recommend this to anyone. I am not getting this shot again I just hope the side effects wear off in a couple of months. F 23 2 months

 1  heavy bleeding Within the first month - continuing into the second month depression, mood swings, acne, anxiety, extreme fatigue, loss of interest in anything, blurred vision, cramps/spasms in feet, back pain, muscle soreness, etc. Cure is worse than the condition. Would not have another shot ever! Have only been on it 2 months and regret having it! F 47 2 months

 1  to prevent pregnancy I have been on the shot for two months and I have had my period for a month, I hate it. I feel bloated and nasty having my period for a whole month sucks. I would never recommend it to any one after this one is done i will use the pills again. F 20 2 months

 1  so i dont have anymore children DEPRESSION-VIOLENT-PAIN IN NECK AND HIP-NON STOP BLEEDING-HEART FEELS LIKE ITS RACEING AT TIMES-ETC.  1  birth control heart palpitations, ringing in the ears, weight gain-5lbs in less than a month, extreme fatigue -sometimes, very low sex drive,headaches,bad thoughts-almost like hallucinating,muscle and joint aches, shaky sometimes,spotting after intercourse, stomach cramps after meals,mood swings this was my first time taking this drug and my next shot will be next month. After reading what other patients have gone through i think , depo is not for me , it may be making me sicker everyday. i will not take it again, am going to change to an alternative BC. i opted for it because of the hassle in remembering to take pills. i just had a baby and i wanted to make sure i don't get pregnant in the near future.i didn't know about the calcium deficiency and all those other serious effects, thanks people! this is it, no more of depo!it should be off the market...  1  so i don't get pregnant You name it I got weight gain moodswings bad temper axiety hot flasses basicly every bad comment every girl has written done. I amm also bipolar manic depressive so you can imagine the hell I'm going threw because i already have these problems to begin with. I feel like my medications don't even work because they are canced out by the shot. F 33 2 months

 1  Birth control I have really awful mood swings.. Ones where I have punched my friend in the face and not even realizing it. Constantly getting mad at people for no reason. Bones hurt very badly and joints too. I have been having really bad heart burn and constipated. I have just felt very uncomfortable since I have started the depo. I do not recommend this to anyone!!!  1  Prevent Pregnancy This shot is awful, had the 1st dosage and was wondering what was going on with me and I realized it was this shot, I have body aches, headaches, breast tenderness, loss of apetite, nausea, fatigue, mood swings etc, I would not recommend this to anyone :(. F 25 2 months

 1  Birth Control SEVERE acne. I had never suffered with acne before. Depression. Mood swings. In general it made me feel pretty low about myself. Would definitely not recommend. F 24 2 months
