 1  just had baby Just started 2 weeks ago. Dry mouth a little moody but horrible pain in my knees pretty sure due to the shot, never had a problem previous. Literally can't walk around without support. Scary, hope I don't get depressed. Should of done better research or wish the nurse wouldn't have made it sound like the miracle birth control F 23 1 days

 1  birth controll I never had severe pms before i took depo, that was almost ten years ago and I still suffer periods that are so emotional, every now and again they are so bad I remember how I felt for almost a year after getting the first shot. I went from being careless and easy going to an insecure emotional reck. my breast got huge and I put on 15 pounds and my poor boyfriend ws the one to tell me that he'd done research about the shot and these were side effects other women experienced. I was young and hadn't even associate my problems with this one little shot, I thought I had lost my #$%* mind. shame shame shame on the industry for so many reasons! F 27 1 days

 1  long very painful periods I got my shot back at the beginning of July and its nearly the end of December now. I was told the shot would only last for three months but I'm still feeling the side effects. The first month was alright I suppose with a little bit of back and abdominal pain. Nothing like with what I went through when I was on the Nuva Ring. Then it came time for my period... Usually I would have cramped so hard for the first three days I would puke and have to take some hard core pain meds, but this didn't happen... But the period didn't stop for four and a half months. Now my bleeding will stop for about two-four days and then I will bleed for a week. On the days I don't bleed I have extreme mood swings. And I've never really been the type to cry during movies or even funerals, but now I can break into tears at the drop of a hat because of a song or a commercial. And I can't stop for hours.  1  Birth Control depressed I got this shot yesterday morning. I started feeling a lil snappy after but didnt think anything of it. I woke up this morning with a terrible headache and feeling so sad & sorry for myself. Wanting to cry for no reason. This is verry unlike me. All day long I have been snapping and pissed off. Definitely not good because I have 3 babies under the age of 3 and i cant feel like this around them. Not sure whats going on. Called my dr several times no return call yet.  1  Prevent a complicated pregnancy Constant bleeding after 3months and only used depo once. Got it in november 09 and still bleeding and its march 10. It takes too long to wear off and the constant bleeding is uncomfortable. I got pregnant while on the depo F 23 1 days

 1  To treat pmdd/stop menstruation I have issues with depression and anxiety, but since taking depo provera these symptoms have worsened unimaginably! Not just experiencing anxiety anymore, now I have full blown panic attacks where my chest is caving in and hard to breathe. Depression has went from episodal mild/moderate to constant severe to the point of nearly constant suicidal ideations. I am fatigued often, usually daily and that has never been a characteristic of mine. Irratable and angry mood swings accompany my constant depression. Used to sleep sound and regular, I wake all through the night, usually dripping in sweat! Never had nights sweats before, or the daily hot flashes. Prolonged bleeding. Horrible... F 39 1 days

 1  Birth control Depression, episodes of vertigo I got ONE shot of Depo Provera, the only side effect they warned me about was possible weight gain. I was an emotional wreck for months. Even scarier, I started having episodes of vertigo about twice a week, where the world would suddenly start spinning for a few seconds. Never knew when it would hit - I even had a few episodes while driving. After three months, when it's supposed to have "worn off" the episodes started tapering off, but they still occurred occasionally for the next three years. Haven't had any problems now for about 1.5 years, so hopefully it's behind me. Would not recommend to anyone. F 26 1 days

 1  Prevent pregnancy I’ve never had vaginal dryness in my life. As a matter of fact, I’ve had more than enough “vaginal mucus” down their prior to my shot. It’s only been two weeks since my shot and I went from tsunami to Sahara. I’m also always on edge. I’m absolutely not myself. Everything makes me angry and irritable. I’m also very sensitive and depressed for the first time in my life. I’ve lost my appetite and I’m losing weight. I already don’t have much weight to lose. It’s scary how these negative life changing side effects are not told to you by your doctor. Most of these doctors selfish inconsiderate unprofessional and misleading. They care more about pushing these products than the damage it will do on your life. I highly recommend you seek other contraceptives if you haven’t injected that poison in you already. Now I’m stressed more so about how long this vaginal dryness and mood swings will last because I’m afraid it may damage my marriage. Smh I’m extremely dissatisfied.  1  To stop my period. I got first shot on august 11,21 since im bleeding its december 7th today .bleeding but light and 2-3 times a day . the most bad side effect is on my mental health.im having swear mood swings ,suddenly i think life is over ,aggressive,panic attacks ,sitting like dum,looking at roof crying ,fighting with husband , no reason yelling on kids ,provera ruined my happiness i cant smile ,i use to im mad all the time,no sex drive im dead.im praying to god that effects will go away soon, waiting for my period i want my normal life,whn im in panic attack i know its bad i cnt control ,i slap my self but cnt attack stays 2,3 hours .best way to b happy i found other ladies reviws ,just think we are not alone ,jst giving me strength,im trying my best to get out of this bad tym ,that i got by big mistake of my life ,sister ,never take this shot please. no one told me i wish .  1  Pregnancy prevention Depo is my greatest regret in life. I have been off it since November 2022 and I thought I would feel better by now (February 2023). But I don't. I have crippling depression. I feel like all the estrogen in my body is depleted and it will never come back. I don't feel beautiful. I feel like I have lost all facial fat. All the feminine features in my face have melted off while I was on depo and I am afraid my face will not be full again. If you are having this symptom please let me know because I feel like I am the only one with sunken eyes and exhaustion! It is depressing and I never smile anymore.  5  birth control I don't get regular periods which I think is great! I do get some spotting though, but its not that commen. spotting can be frustrating though, it will last for a few hours and go away but then come back the next day or day after. Also spotting occurs after a lot sex sometimes and often occurs after a shower(?). I did have one time where I had a period for a month though, which was horrible. The doctors said it was just a "cycle of bleeding" and offered no relief. Besides that I never had real serious side affects, headaches were common at first but went away with time. I also LOST WEIGHT on depo... I was 185 when I started 2 years ago and now I'm 140, but this may be due to other factors as well, I'm just trying to point out that I never had the weight gain that some women complain of. I like depo, its very easy to manage and the issue of BC and pregnancy isn't constantly lingering in my mind. I don't have to remember to take a pill everyday which I think is great for people on the go. Every 3 months I just have to take 30 mins to go to the clinic and get the shot. Its great! F 18 2 days

 5  birth control slight breast tenderness/slight change in bone density I first used depo after I gave birth to my child in 2001. I was on it steady for about 2 yrs. I actually lost more than my baby weight in the first 3 months. I didn't have headaches or back pain. The only problem I noticed was a calcium deficiency which I already suffered from. It just made it a little bit worse. But I have always taken medicine for that. After I decided to take a break from it and let my period run its course for a while it actually took about 10mnths before I had my first period. Then they were a little abnormal. Not bad though. Still no cramps with my periods. I just recently decided to get back on the shot. I have a little breast tenderness that I didnt have the first time. But not too bad. I have actually gained about 3lbs. But its probably needed since I only way about 120lbs anyway. I will say that the shot affects everyone differently. I have heard everything from the best to the ultimate worst. I took a chance with it and its great for me. I would just sugges F 23 2 days

 1  birth control After I was done taking depo I had a sudden weight gain I can not lose. I have had alot of female problems,and problems with my blood sugar. I know all of this is from Depo-Provera. It also makes it difficult to get pregnant when you finally decide to. I would not take this if I were you. I use to be very thin and healthy. Now I feel like I'm 60+ years old,and I'm only 31.
