After the first two packs: mild headache for the last couple days of each month (nothing a little motrin doesn't fix) | I was very skeptical about taking Yasmin because I've heard so many negative things about it, but my doctor insisted I give it a try, and I'm very glad he did! I had previously tried Loestrin Fe and LoOvral for several years but switched because my period was super long (2 weeks!), and I was very depressed on them. With Yasmin, my period is only 3 days long, and all of my mood problems have gone away. I am normally a very sexual/easily arroused person and I have a very sexy boyfriend who is very into me but it is just so hard to get arroused on this contraceptive. As far as weight goes I am normally around 120-125 and now I'm a intransignent 130 regarldess of how I eat or how frequently I exercise. Plus I realized how incredibly exhausted and moody I became on this other pill. From what I see with Yasmin I'm extermely excited to see if it will help almost 'reverse' the side effects I had on this other pill. The one thing with this board is - as others have said - it's all about what works for YOUR body with YOUR metabolism. it's so easy to read just the bad reviews and want to run for the hills. My 1st month on Yaz was great - what woman doesn't want to lose water-weight? Unfortunately, I think I lost precious nutrients along with all that fluid & I'm due for a blood test next week to check my potassium levels. Please note: abnormal potassium levels are dangerous! Potassium regulates our heart rhythm! In all the literature on both Yaz & Yasmin, it states that your MD should check your potassium levels during your 1st month on this drug. I wish I had insisted on a blood test during my 1st month. Doctors are not perfect & we must be in charge of monitoring our own health, as much as possible. Yaz was my last resort for help with my painful, disruptive menstruation. It DID help my PMDD & my mood has been brighter & happier since taking it, but at what cost? I have been in so much physical discomfort that it's not worth it.
