I have been off of Yasmin for about 4 year and i think it caused my hormonal imbalance an I am just now finding this all out. However, DEMAND that your doctor test your hormone levels. Ask for these tests... FSH Test, TSH Test and an Estrogen, Progesterone & Testosterone test. Chances are your Estrogen levels are high. Mine were double the max amount. Very scary because breast cancer is found in woman with high levels of estrogen. Take action and get healthy! If your not getting help from your doctor, go to a Naturopath and do a saliva sample test to test your hormones. | F | 30 | 2 years | 2/2/2009 | 1 | heavy, frequent and crampy periods | DVT - deep vein thrombosis. A clot the length of my thigh. After being hospitalized for 5 days, I've been on coumadin for the last 6 months. Genetic coagulation tests all proved to be negative and the doctors all believe that yasmin was the cause. I've have to wear a thigh high compression hose (so attractive and stylish), watch my diet, no drinking, and have my blood tested frequently.... definitley cramping my senior year in college. The worst is that the clot hasn't completely dissapated, but has attached itself to the vein wall. So it's chronic now. I'm hoping that my leg won't swell, harden and be uncomfortable for ever. Also, this will impact my life and health in the future, especially if I ever decide to get pregnant. I also had significant hair loss about 4 years ago, enough so that my gynecologist ordered bloodwork to see what my hormone levels were. Just a few weeks ago I had a crazy panic attack and I never have panic attacks! I began questioning my relationship with my boyfriend and even broke up with him to make the anxiety go away. We're back together, but I am still anxious. I was on the Ortho Evra patch for 6 months before and switched to the generic form of Yasmin so I wouldn't have the marks from the patch all over me. Unfortunately, I have no desire to have sex anymore and it is sometimes painful because of the lack of lubrication. I called my doctor today to switch to something else or go back to Ortho Evra. Changed to Aviane (Generic Alesse) and went from 116lbs to 106lbs and breasts went down to a 32C again. Changed to Microgestrin (Generic Loestrin, didn't gain weight and got AWFUL acne. Now I am on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo and just finished my first pack today. I know have been taking yaz for 2 years and love it but for the passed 6 months have been having serious breakthrough bleeding in the middle of my periods. my doctor just changed me to desogen becuase it has more progesterone which supposedly is what keeps the lining in tact and should stop breakthrough bleeding. apparently yaz has very low doses of hormones. When I was taking Yasmin I was aged 20-21, towards the end of my time on the pill I became utterly conviced that I was aging and losing my youth and looks at a very young age and had no idea why. My boyfriend told me I was being ridiculous but I kept telling friends and family that I felt like a young woman in on old woman's body. Anyway looking back on what I experienced on Yasmin now - night sweats, hot flashes, no sex drive, vaginal dryness, DRY EYE SYNDROME...these are all symptoms that usually occur in menopausal women and in the case of dry eye syndrome it often happens in post-menopausal women. I don't think hormones are to be messed with, even for the sake of beautiful skin.
