Also I had never suffered from IBS before) - after 2 weeks of IBS I realised it must be Yasmin that was causing it. My IBS symptoms went away a few days after I stopped taking yasmin, and my period was a few days late as a result of it. I even lost a serious relationship to an ex/b because of it. After I ran out I was off of it for a couple months when I began to realize that I was feeling A LOT better in terms of moods. I did a self test, went back on it for 2 months and off it 2 months, and sure enough, the 2mos I was on it again I had my nasty mood swings and overall just felt terrible. As for everything else, it made my hair grow back in and feel thick again (having recovered from a bad "hormone crash" 2yrs before), regulated my periods. I felt symptoms pretty early on, but thought I'd stick it out to be sure. They never went away though. I had been on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for 5 years and just thought I'd give this one a try. I've always had a little bit of anxiety, but this was extreme! I wasn't myself at all. I developed terrible IBS and even had to go to the hospital and many doctors because I couldn't eat or sleep! I know this medicine works for some women, so I'm not saying not to try it, but I would recommend it only if you experience PMDD. I don't, so I guess I shouldn't have! My boyfriend was always asking why I got so upset over such minor things..I would cry over minor things as if they were the end of the world. One day I had a huge breakdown and ended up screaming "Something's wrong with me, this isn't me!" Somehow the idea popped into my head that it might be Yasmin that was making me feel so unhappy..and after reading all of the reviews I am convinced that it is what has been making me so emotionally unstable and crazy! I do NOT recommend this pill..it completely changed me into a different person. I can't wait to actually be happy again | F | 20 | 2 years | 7/16/2008 | 5 | acne | none it's great! | I started Yasmin for my acne and, like any other acne treatment, my skin got a little worse before it got better. Now it's clear and I never break out. It also helped with my periods and cramps. I consistently have a 5 day period which is only heavy the first day. I rarely have cramps, and if I do they're very mild. I also always get a migraine before my period, which was unaffected by Yasmin. The only side effect I've had is bloating which isn't a problem. She developed anxiety, shortness of breath, "funny little nose bleeds." Doctor diagnosed anxiety. She collapsed two days later, taken to ER, had blood clots in lungs and heart, died eight hours later. I advise all patients taking this drug to be very aware of the symptoms of Deep Vein Thombosis and Pulmonary Emboli. If you experience shortness of breath or pain in calves, INSIST on being tested for blood clots. Anxiety is over-diagnosed in this situation. Being on Yasmin contributed to my dear 18 year old daughter's death. I wish I had known then what I know now. I took Yasmin for about 3 months since I was going on an overseas trip to India and I didn't want to get my period while I was away on holiday. After I got back I was hospitalised with a pulmonary embolism and the doctor said he thinks I got it from a combination of taking Yasmin and the long plane flight. I wish doctors would advise women of this risk as well when they are thinking about taking the pill. I also believe contraceptive pills should warn about the higher risks of getting a dvt or pulmonary embolism. The hair loss was most devistating. I have been off this horrible drug for 6 months....I finally feel myself again, sex drive is back, no longer need to take IBS medication, hair is slowly growing back in (yay), anxiety disappeared over night and back pain went completely away! The only thing left is the eye floaters...the are getting a bit better but still there. Also had frequent spotting and long periods. | I took it for over a year when I was about 40 with no side effects from what I could tell and periods were light and on schedule. But after a couple years off when I started taking it again the results were far different. Maybe it was because I was older, but after about a couple months on it I had horrible experiences feeling like I was having a heart attack, severe weak spells. My periods were long...like 9 days and would occur outside the regular schedule. I took them for about 6 more months and after going to urgent care with heart attack like symptoms and EKG and blood tests came out clear I decided to try going off them.
