| 1 | PMDD/ Severe Cramps and Bleeding | Blood Clots in my lungs. | Well at first I loved what Yasmin did for me it worked wonderfully until it almost took my life 3 weeks ago. The 8th of June I was admitted into the I.C.U because I couldn't breath and my chest hurt terribly, I was diagnosed Pulmonary Emoblisms due multiple large blood clots in both of my lungs, lucky for myself and my family I made it to the hospital in time before the blood clots made it to my brain or took my life. I'm not saying this medication is bad for everyone, but I wanted to share my experience and just for any woman taking birth control with estrogen to be careful and watch for any abnormal signs. | F | 22 | 3 months | 6/27/2008 | 4 | for birth control | Ive only taken it for 2 weeks but so far so good, no spotting, i take calcium chocolate supplements with b12 and b6 in them and drink 5 bottles of propel per day with extra b12 in it..and i think that is helping and preventing alot of side affects since yasmin depletes b12 and b6. I was taking Yasmin for about 6 months. Hardly had a period when on it. I didn't like this. My doctor advised me to try a cple of months on yasmin but skip the sugar pills to see if there was a correlation with the amount/drop in hormone & the hot flushes that I was having. I did this for one month (still had hot flushes) and suddenly,I started having severe flatulence, bloating & off to the toilet contsantly. I have stopped Yasmin but seem to have bad IBS. I can't eat anything without getting the gurgles in the stomach, becoming bloated and smelly flatulence. Happy to be off Yasmin. Hoping I get back to normal. Increased sensitivity to the sun and heat. No change in acne. | Despite a somewhat difficult initial adjustment period, I LOVE YASMIN! It has pretty much cured my erratic mood swings and given me my emotional equilibrium back. I am a much happier, more positive person now. Note: I am taking it continuously for 3 months at a time. The effect it has had on reducing my out-of-control hormone-related food cravings is also quite dramatic. My Pepperidge Farm intake is down 90%! One warning: I did start to have near panic attacks, but after noticing they all happened in the mornings after my second coffee, I researched this and discovered that birth control pills can greatly intensify the effects of caffeine. If your only bad side effect is anxiety, you might try switching to half-caf or decaf before giving up on Yasmin. I feel terrible for all of you who have suffered on Yasmin, but for me it's my salvation. Millions of people consume peanuts (or peanut related things) everyday and they never experience any problems with it. Then there are people who eat peanuts and die, get hives, their throat closes up etc. That doesnt mean that peanuts are bad for everyone and that they should be BANNED in every store. There are just people who don't react well with certain things in life and just because this is a medication it doesnt mean its a life ruiner. You never know unless you try, and if you are like me.. it will be nothing but positive things.
