I chose Yasmin because I was told I would have less weight gain and bloating compared to Trifeme. I had to go off it after 20days the bleeding and pain were that bad. After that I had a break for a couple of months and went back to Trifeme... now I am struggling with severe bloating and mood swings again. This forum has at least reassuren me that I am not alone. I have been presecribed NuvaRing and am contemplating taking it. I wish it was less complicated. | F | 29 | 20 days | 10/4/2007 | 1 | contraceptive | This drug contains a different type of hormone that also acts as a mild diuretic. The only thing your doctor/pharmacist may neglect to tell you is that the diuretic can mess with your potassium levels (as it did with me) and cause all sorts of worrisome side effects. I had heart palpitations. I guess it's recommended that your dr check your potassium levels the first couple of months you're on yasmin. Mine did not. I recently switched to Loestrin 24 and i feel like a weight has been lifted off of my chest-literally!I'm not as moody (so far) and I don't feel as stressed out (probably due to the fact that my heart isn't pounding out of my chest anymore!) Another sid effect I had with Yasmin was leg/foot/toe cramps. Not fun. | F | 28 | 5 years | 10/4/2007 | 1 | bc | Could not figure out what was wrong with me. They ran many tests including cat scan, blood work, urine tests and spinal tap. I ended up with a spinal head ache from the tap. The Dr's made me feel crazy like I was making it up. And they tested me for drugs. I think they thought I was on something. This stuff was suppose to make everything good and instead it has taken 4 or more months of my life. I'm an extremely sexual person so for me not to want sex is really odd. This is not her. This has all started after she began taking this pill. She will never take it again.
