Despite all the above, he suggested putting me on a low dose statin!! I backed away slowly, then broke and headed for the nearest exit. No stroke, no heart attack. Strong as an ox. She does not take statins. Latest studies show that statins will stop a heart attack or stroke in only one of 144 patients studied. If you want to lower your cholesterol do in naturally. Research how to do it on internet. All my side effects went away 3 months off the medication. I had also been taking Q10 for abought 3 years that helpe a lot with muscle pains, but my new Doc refused to give me Q10 so had to buy Q10 or suffer more pain then usual. | Started taking Statins following 2 (two) Stents, Doc said I was at risk, I was put on Zocor for some time, then it was changed for Simvastatin, witch was very unpleasant = more discomfort, then I was given lipitor statin, about that time I had also been taking Q10, but my new Doc refused to give me Q10 so had to buy Q10 or suffer the pain. All of them gave me pain some more then others, BAD STUFF! HAVE NOW STOPED TAKING STATIN. Pain all gone, Feel like a teenager. Weakness and numbness. In the feet. | After 10 years on Lipitor my side effects became worse and my feet were becoming more and more numb. I decided to stop lipitor and try holistic alternatives. I have never smoked. never a heavy drinker. Never been overweight and have always been active. I also have s fairly healthy diet. After stopping lipitor. one of my arteries went ft 0% blockage to 95% in 6 months. I now have 6 stents at the age of 60. My first stents were at the age of 49 (3 at that time). Two weeks later started having short term memory loss which continually got worse. Then I started having the tingling in one of my hands. The last straw was when I started feeling numbness in my hand and one of my feet. The Dr took me off of it. Within 3 days the hot flashes stopped & the numbness went away. It's been almost 2 months since I've been off of it and I'm still having the tingling in my feet that radiates up to my knees when I'm on my feet a good while. I have about 90% of my short term memory back. After 5 days I have almost totally recovered. My upper gums behind teeth no longer ache. After several dentist appts, I wanted them to take my two front teeth out(they are veneers) I no longer have stomach troubles with everything pouring out of me without warning. My toes have not cramped at all and I can walk /stand on them. I did lose ten pounds which at 117 was something I did not need but feeling better I can start to regain it. I am not seeing my doctor till the 27th so go from there. Also. at my weight I dont think it was wise for me to be taking 40 mg (cholesterol 225)when people have severe side effects at 10 mg.
