I've had 3 shots so far, and yes the pain has gone down, but im not a very easy person to be around with the massive mood swings, and try getting through a day, in a class room where you have hot flashes, and can't wear a tank top to school. :/ im pretty miserable all the time, but this is what we have to do. in April of 2008 i had surgery and the doctor removed a cyst that was aprox 2 times the size of my uterus. She also burned away some endomitriosis, but she couldn't get all of it. I HIT A STATE OF EXTREME DEPRESSION AFTER 1 FULL MONTH OF NOT SLEEPING LONGER THAN 2 HRS A NITE. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU HAVE A GREAT SUPPORT SYSTEM AS YOU STEP INTO THIS TREATMENT. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS DRUG IF YOU HAVE HISTORY OF DEPRESSION. THIS DRUG HAS BEEN A HUGE RISK TO MY LIFE. IT KILLS YOUR SELF-WORTH AND STRENGTH. I am very concerned now. I got the shot yesterday, it was my first shot. I had laperoscopy a little over a year ago, where I was told I had almost Stage 4 endometriosis. My husband and I want more children, and I saw a different doctor yesterday that suggested this shot for 7 months, then afterward we can try to have a baby. I am curious as to if anyone conceived after this shot? I had nausea, mood swings, hot flashes, extreme pain, loss of sex drive, vomitting, head aches, and 8 weeks after my last dosage I was diagnosed with ITP - a bleeding disorder caused by the Lupron having adverse effect on my immune system and making my immune system attack the platlettes in my blood cells. My last dose was in April 2008 and this bleeding disorder is something I still deal with. During my 6 months on Lupron, at 3.75 mg per dose every 28 days, it was not as effective on my stage 2 endo as my doctor had hoped it would be, and recommended an additional year of Lupron (until I told him to go to hell). I still deal with pain from endo on almost a daily basis, sex is very painful, and I am waiting to have a hysterectomy... at the ripe age of 25... no kids in my future. | F | 25 | 6 months | 1/13/2009 | 4 | Endometriosis | Hot flashes, mood swings, anxiety, weight fluxuation and night sweats. | I was in a lot of pain with my endo, and I was desperate to find anything that would make my daily life more comfortable, especially during my periods. They were lasting for a month or two at a time and were excruciting enough to put me in the hospital. The shots made me feel pretty crappy at night, and I got very frequent hot flashes. However, I am pain free now that my 3 months is up. The worst side eefect for me came after my shots stopped. I have been off for three months, and I am now on anxiety medication. My doctor said it could be from the shot, or a combination of that and my job, which involves working with victims of crime. Overall, it was probably worth it. Haven't had a period for 45 days now. Don't know if it is the shot, or if our efforts to get pregnant are finally working. I was a newlywed when I was diagnosed and I had horrible pain with intercourse before I began my injections. A month after I started Lupron I had no pain. The day or so after I get my injection I feel kind of cruddy and get a pretty bad headache. I also have hot flashes everyday and mood swings. All of these side effects are definately worth it. I'm bi-polar and cannot take the add in of estrogen or progesterone because of a history of blood clots.
