1  Migraine headache Compazine was a nightmare from hell. I’m a calm person with no mental health conditions, however after the ER admistered compazine in my IV I became psychotic! I wanted to pull out my IV and escape. I asked why I felt this way and they told me “oh sometimes that happens to pt”. WHAT!?! Why is the hell was I not warned!?! I wanted to end my life for those long 45 min I sat in complete darkness. I felt so alone and so uncomfortable i couldn’t bare it. They wouldn’t give me anything to make the side effects stop! Finally after 45 min I became myself again. However I couldn’t sit still and still felt restless. My body wanted to sleep so bad but my mind wouldn’t sleep. This horrific drug took 3 days to wear off! I had tremors the next day. It was the most scariest feeling of my life! Don’t take any chances with this drug. Refuse it! F 37 1 days

1  Nausea, dehydration Horror. Locked in my body, feeling paralyzed, locked in a frozen state. I could speak, but it was all so difficult, pleading and crying for help. Severe panic and feeling like I was trapped in a box. Very scary drug. Just writing this down again has made my heart race. This happened nearly 20 years ago. F 38 0 days

1  It was given to me in the er for headache I felt really uncomfortable, jittery, scared to be alone. Agitated like i was scared to be left alone. I feel like if a person goes er for headache related to multiple sclerosis that a drug simply for headache should be given instead of some homemade cocktail that a doctor mixes together to try out on someone. Not all medicine works the same for every patient. So don't give a patient a drug that's for actually a mental condition mainly just give them an actual pain medication like Tylenol or morphine to prevent a patient leaving in worse condition from a side effect that's from a drug that's not really needed for their actual symptom. I was so messed up from this compezene, that I was so upset crying, so agettated didn't want to be left alone, couldn't sit still. I felt like i could commit suicide. This drug is terrible. I can't believe the doctors would experiment with a patient who was already sick and uncomfortable and take a chance on making them feel even worse by pushing an i.v. drug in them that's for schizophrenia. Oh my I was in bad shape ,worse then when I came in. The nurses didn't care, Just discharged me and didn't care at all. F 28 1 days

1  Severe headache Was given compazine and Benedryl IV push in ER. I immediately could not breathe and pulled out the IV catheter, blood pressure cuff, and pulse oximeter probe off and ran into the bathroom because I simply could not breathe or calm down . My skin was bright red and I literally thought they were trying to kill me . Needless to say, the staff never noticed the difficulties I was experiencing and the Doctor chuckled when he was told that this had happened to me . He stated “ Oh yeah, about 1 in 10 patients experience that reaction “. I honestly believed they were getting their kicks from torturing me . My headache remained for the next 4 days and I didn’t sleep for days . This drug combo is harmful . I think it should be banned from its use . My regular physician said the same thing as the ER doctor and kinda acted like I was exaggerating the episode . I won’t be returning to her office either . In the future , I will ask about potential side effects before I ever allow a drug to be administered to me or my loved ones . Like some of the others that have posted here , I have had several residual panic attacks since the one time injection of these substances . I WOULD RATHER DEAL WITH THE HEADACHE AT HOME THAN EVER HAVE THIS DONE TO ME AGAIN. WHO KNOWS, NEXT TIME IT COULD KILL ME ! F 44 1 days

1  Migraine relief Severe anger My daughter, 15, took the medicine, She was originally given it at the hospital-we went in due to severe migraine. She got very upset, tried to pull out her IV, yelled at me. At a later date,Neurologist then gave it to her (long story). Within 30 minutes, my daughter ran into my room out of the blue, and started breaking furniture, throwing things around my room, and then ATTACKED ME. I yelled at her to get her to stop. It was like she woke up from a dream. She said "Mom, I'm scared" and started crying. This medication is beyond horrible. Take it out of the doctors use at once! F 15 1 days

1  migraine WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! i received compazine through an IV, for a migraine in the ER. as soon as it went in i felt pain throughout my whole entire body. mainly my legs! i started feeling my heart racing and decided to tell the nurse and she didn't even budge. i felt so out of place and started feeling so overwhelmed and uncomfortable. i started getting really thirsty and constantly asked for water. i got discharged 30 mins later. still feeling like something was wrong my parents decided to come over my home to check on me and right away started feeling my head tilt back , uncontrollable movements, teeth clinching. they then rushed me to a different ER , and was told i was having a dystonic reaction and was given benadryl to counteract the compazine. i eventually knocked out! the next two days i wasn't able to sit still. had felt like i'd been hit with a car! ive gotten ready as depression, anxiety, irrational thoughts and no sleep! ive started seeing a psychiatrist to try and get my life back to normal but its been so hard! my family is thinking of suing the hospital because they have caused me a lot of damage. ALL I WANT IS MY LIFE BACK! HATE THIS DRUG! DONT RECOMMEND! F 25 1 days

1  Migraine Was given this medication at hospital for A migraine. Within seconds I jumped out of bed and began trying to take IV out of my arm. I was pacing and telling my husband I needed to get out of there. For the first tie in my life I felt I was losing my mind. I only got about 2 hours of sleep that night. My mouth also became extremely dry and lips began to be dry and developed small scabs. It's a week later today and my mouth and lips still feel weird. Taste buds are off and tongue burns when I eat or drink. My headaches are worse, chest pains and still jittery. I don't feel the same at all. The hospital should be required to explain this medication and its side effects before giving this to anyone. They should also be required to provide you in writing what drug was administered and side effects before you leave. This is terrible!! F 44 1 days

1  Migraine Immediately I felt like ripping the IV out, it burned and was painful at the site. I felt doomed and severe panic. I kept getting up and asking for water. I was too afraid to tell anybody what I was feeling. I was discharged from the ER about 40 minutes later. The car ride home and the rest of the night were terrifying. I literally thought I was going to have to be admitted to the psych hospital. I paced all night, couldn't focus, couldn't relax, couldn't sleep, couldn't breathe and couldn't eat. This was the worst experience of my life. The effects have worn off but I still have anxiety about taking any medication that would alter my thought process. This medication was given with toradol. I would never take this medication again. F 44 1 days

1  Migraine Went to ER and treated for migraine with "migraine cocktail" which I later found out contained comprazine. Within minutes of IV, severe anxiety set in. I felt like I just needed to rip the IV out and run away. Nurses had no clue what was wrong, doctor instantly recognized problem and administered benedryl. That was 2 days ago and the anxiety has not completely gone away. Also, I feel like I can't breath. Has anyone else experienced this? I just want this to go away, I feel like it's terminal. What an awful experience, I can't believe the nurses had no clue. Please don't take this drug! F 39 1 days

1  Migraine DO NOT RECOMMEND. It made me want to crawl out of my body, want to rip the IV out and run away, made me want to die, anxious and nervous and jittery and restless. My heart pounded on my chest. It also affected my movement and was hard to move. I have it on my file that I'm allergic now. The side effects lasted for 2 days, I didn't feel myself. My friend had to come over and stay the night with me because the anxiousness feelings kept coming up in waves. Given once in ER for migraine cocktail F 22 1 days

1  E.R I went into the e.r due to a massive panic attack I had all day when I got there they gave me fluids and a malox cocktail bc of the nausea and also wanted to give me promethazine however I explained I couldn’t due to my current medication so they administered compazine instead which id never heard of. What a freakin nightmare! I thought I was beginning to calm down but I got the sudden feeling that my skin was crawling especially my legs bc I was so drained from my long day of panic attack I fell asleep for 10 minutes and woke up in horrible jitters and insomnia I begged them to help me so the nurse said they can give me benedryl but I thought it would make me worse so I passed. When I went home I finally got some on and off again sleep today it is 3:30p.m and I still can feel the effects not as bad but it is there and makes it hard to focus on my day. This needs to be banned immediately or researched and revised. Please!! Never will i have this in my system ever again. Beware F 28 1 days

1  Migraine & Nausea I went to the ER with a bad migraine with the desire to get a CT scan for it. I got one, and they gave me Compazine and Benadryl through an IV drip afterward. The Benadryl did not even remotely help me. Instantaneously after the Compazine went into my arm, I got a burning, hot feeling around my heart that spread down the rest of my body. I was shaking violently, getting cold and hot at the same time, could not focus on anything, and I was sweating profusely. It has been one day since this drug was given to me and I have had two violent panic attacks since. Six hours after I went home from the hospital, my body seized up until my hands and legs could not move and I was barely able to breathe. We called an ambulance and they were able to bring me back down over the course of an hour, but I was trembling the rest of the night and could not sleep. Nine o'clock this morning, I seized up a second time and was hyperventilating uncontrollably for an hour. We went to the hospital and I was only able to calm down and breathe again and move my hands when they gave me Xanax. My chest still feels heavy, my heart hurts, I have constant heartburn and a burning sensation in my throat. I would much rather have migraines and nausea for days at a time than ever be given this drug again and I will refuse it if they ever try to administer it once more. Why in the world is this drug on the market? F 17 1 days
