5 | RA & Psoriatic Arthritis | None. | Within 2 weeks of taking Humira, I had more mobility, less pain and swelling, less fatigue, and psoriasis cleared 100%. I still have a struggle with being a little tired, but Humira gave me most of my life back. I have had no side effects and so happy with this drug. Don't know what I'd do without it! | F | 43 | 2 years | 9/24/2009 | 4 | psoriasis | slight bruising at injection site. first few shots developed large sore pimple like red bumps, 3-4. all have gone away now.. | i had problem area's like most. head, elbows and knee's. after injections all has cleared 90% very happy with results..still a little nervious about the immune system, while living in the north east. not looking forward towards the flu season and colds.. exspecialy the swine-flu.. | M | 40 | 2 months | 9/23/2009 | 1 | RA | 4 hours after the very first injection, my legs swelled up almost to twice their size. I became extremely tired and started vomiting non-stop. I called the dr and was told to take steriods. After 5 days, I could no longer stand the pain in my body. Went to the emergency room and had developed massive blood clots, DVT's, hematomas, pulmonary embolisms. It wrecked my thyroid, and I was extremely anemic. HORRIBLE DRUG. I have been a mess for 3 weeks now. | F | 51 | 1 days | 9/23/2009 | 3 | psoriatic ankylosing arthritis | I've noticed that both of my ankles have become very painful. I never had any arthritis symptoms there before. | F | 47 | 25 days | 9/11/2009 | 3 | RA | Large red extremely itchy lumps all over - ended up on drip in hospital. | Wished I hadn't hd such a severe reaction (occurred after 6 weeks) as seemed to be helping | F | 51 | 6 weeks | 9/4/2009 | 2 | PsA and psoriasis | Extreme lack of energy, dizziness when I bend over, joint pain, hard to focus, vision is sensitive to light. Fingernails stopped growing for several months, when they started to grow again I had 20 hangnails (2 on each nail) that took over 10 days to heal. | PsA for me is all about tendon issues, Humira has not stopped new tendonitis areas. I had several kidney infections and my urologist said methotrexate/Humira cocktail is acid for my renal system, said he would rather I be addicted to pain killers than to use this stuff. | F | 54 | 7 months | 8/24/2009 | 5 | psoriasis psoriatic arthritis | Have been on this med for over 2 years and have had no side effects that i can relate to the shots. I take 1 shot a week because of the severity of the conditions. | I had over 80% body coverage and had tried everything there was out there for 20+ years. the arthritis was so bad i couldn't hardly walk and couldn't get up from chairs or couch without help. The quality of life was very low. Now i am completely cleared in my skin and in no pain in my joints. I get around very well and live a much better life | M | 46 | 2 years | 8/23/2009 | 2 | ra | slight red, raised swelling around injection sight, which went away after a day or 2. Have developed throat infection that did not respond to first course of antibiotics, now on another course and have stopped Humira as not helping anyway | Humira did not seem to help me. My ra has not been severe and was diagnosed early, so trying humira was a bit of an experiment. Not worth the risks to try for longer. Dr seems to think that ra in remission and my pain is from permanent joint damage. | F | 35 | 3 months | 8/19/2009 | 3 | Crohns Diease | It works wonders on Crohns...its the side effects that are the worst. Soon after taking it, my Crohns seemed to have vanished. Then I started to get severe pain in my joints, my muscles are in pain, my heart sometimes beats very fast/hard, lots of fatigue, tingling and numbness in my right arm and hand, swelling in different parts of my body...the doctor keeps telling me its part of Crohns, not the medication..But I never had these problems before taking Humira (and I can see many others here are having the same side effects) So, while its helped in one area...its made a problem in another. I just hope I dont have to be like this for the rest of my life. | M | 29 | 1 years | 8/13/2009 | 5 | psoritic arthritis | tiredness | I feel like a different person already, and I have only had 2 injections .I am pain free ,my psorisis is still the same but hopefully will improve, fingers crossed | F | 25 | 1 months | 8/7/2009 | 4 | Chrons | Burning when injected but only for 10sec. | I was 42 when I found out I had Chrons, been on many medication nothing worked, than I had surgery many feet of intestines removed, now after taking humira its a new life for me. I think it is a wonder drug. | F | 51 | 2 years | 8/5/2009 | 1 | Crohn's Disease and AML | Extreme Fatigue, Sore Eyes, Blood in Stool, Severe Bloating, Knee Pain and Shortness of Breath. | Leukemia and Crohn's makes it 100 times harder to manage and treat using the medications as they both have adverse effects against each other. | M | 18 | 6 weeks | 8/3/2009 | 2 | psoriatic arthritis | new positive ANA, new lupus, new vasculitis | I took Humira for 3 years. While sometimes difficult to inject, it was great for the arthritis sympotoms. I felt very well, strong, had reduced joint pain, and little psoriasis. I did have a bad infection that required hospitalization for nearly a week, but otherwise did very well. Then my ANA turned positive, I developed an itchy rash, then developed vasculitis, and finally the malar rash of SLE. I went off Humira. | F | 3 years | 8/2/2009 | 5 | Retinal vasculitis | I was nauseous in the morning for about 3-4 months. I've occasionally felt fluish (achey, fatigued) throughout, but not to a degree that it is too disruptive. After about 4 1/2 months of injections, I've just had my first skin reaction. It was not too severe; welts like big mosquito bites that itched a bit. Benedryl took the itch and swelling away. | I'm also taking Cyclosporine, but trying to wean off of this. So far, the inflamation has not come back. Overall, I'm hopeful that it continues to work as I wean off the cyclo. I was on 85mg of prednisone for several months, and its good to be off that. | M | 45 | 4.5 months | 7/31/2009 | 2 | JIA | Horrible Headaches, frequent sinus infections, strep throat, had mono twice, swollen lymphnodes that won't go away, exhausted, my period stopped, severe stomach pain | My mom decided to take me off of the Humira because of all the side effects. It worked ok but not worth risking your life for. | F | 15 | 1 years | 7/26/2009 | 5 | RA | The only side effect that I possibly can attribute to Humira is maybe some increased fatigue the following day, although it is usually so mild that I don't notice it. | So far(knock on wood), it has been a miracle drug for me. I am grateful that it was developed right around that time that I came down with rheumatoid. I am also grateful for good insurance, and I hope that with the passage of national health care, more people will have access to this drug. | F | 55 | 6 years | 7/22/2009 | 5 | Crohn's | Minor pain at injection sight. | I have been on and off steriods for 18 years but the disease would never "settle". I can say in all honesty that humira changed my life. Within a couple of weeks I feel like a normal person - I used to wake up all through the night and need the toilet multiple times a day. Now I sleep through the night, I have energy and I am so happy that I can do 'normal' things. | F | 36 | 6 months | 7/16/2009 | 3 | Rheumatoid Arthritis | I have nausea a few days after injection. Also occasional bad head/face aches which I never have had before. Small red hard bumps on my chest and arms. Fatigue, bloating, weight gain. | While inflammation has gone down considerably, my hands, feet, knees, ankles, elbows, collarbone are still hurting very badly-a different kind of pain than I had before. I have been on Humira for 4 months now and will be going back to rhuematologist to see whats up. | F | 50 | 4 months | 7/13/2009 | 1 | RA | bone marrow depression | Only somewhat relieved pain. Not worth dying over and I had a near death experience with it. | F | 68 | 15 months | 7/13/2009 | 4 | Crohn's | Had Crohn's for 2 years, tried all different meds, took prednisone twice, gained 23 lbs.,fluid retention(face was huge),remicade quit working, humira is awesome so far(3 mo.),but after injection I have terrible joint pain(hand, fingers, feet, ankles, knees)then it goes away for a few days until another injection. | Great, but joint pain for a few days after injection | F | 30 | 3 months | 7/12/2009 |
