Now I have thining hair...especially on the top of my head and hilar enlargement. I still have episodes of EXTREME fatigue, but not nearly as often as I did with RA. | I came down with RA just overnight. :-( The pain...especially in my hands and wrists was nearly unbearable and I vaguely recall asking my husband to cut them off. :-( . I could no longer use my hands, hold a glass of water myself, hold eating utensils, wipe myself after using the bathroom (HORRIBLE..:-(( ), dress myself, walk...nothing. I had to be carried into the Rheumatolgist's office. All I asked for is DEATH. I was no longer living...just existing in bed with no sleep because of the pain. Methotrexate did nothing, Enbrel was the next step, but could not relieve the wrist and hand swelling and pain. With Humira, my hands became NORMAL again, but it took time for my fingers and wrist to straighten! Then I could WALK, and we had meals for the first time in months!! Plus I could dust, vacuum, clean my house, wash and iron, take care of my dogs and cats and mow the entire lawn! (Yes, I have a riding mower!) I can no longer jog 6 miles each day, dance, fell trees for firewood, cut and split firewood, nor can I garden as I used to do. I need someone to help my hubby build the garage addition to our house as I can no longer hammer as I once did and do the heavy lifting. I MISS being able to do heavy construction work, but the Humira GAVE me back the use of my hands, took away the horrible pain and allowed me to sleep, and allowed me to walk again. Without it, I can honestly say I would rather be dead. Tests kept coming back negative for any type of infections or cancers and doctors began to suspect HLH. Autopsy confirmed HLH as cause of death.
