All of the reviews that I am reading are a little intimidating and I feel really bad for those people who are experiencing the really bad side effects of this biologic. For me, I am pretty happy with the results. I am going to be removing methotrexate and prednisone after I have been on Humira for 6 weeks, so I will have to see if I am still satisifed with Humira at that point. I've had pustular psoriasis for over forty years and did not respond well to Methotrexate, Cyclosporine or any other medication used in the treatment of Psoriasis. I started on the biologic Enbrel when it first came out, about twelve years ago. Within six months my skin went from fifteen percent clear to one hundred percent clear. I don't like to use the word miracle, but that's what having clear skin for the first time in forty years felt like. I've had psoriatic arthritis since I was seventeen, the same age I developed psoriasis. While taking Enbrel, I saw significant improvement in mobility and less joint pain. Last November my doctor suggested the change to Humira because I was experiencing frequent flare-ups and showing signs of Rheumatoid Arthritis. My condition has improved but I still needed other medication; Plaquenil, and recently Arava along with Humira. Now I'm having terrible side effects that are ruining what little quality of life I had before Humira. 1. Excruciating pain in my wrist. Strange, scary sharp pain. Nothing until you put a load on it, pushing out of the chair to get up, I almost dropped the coffee cup this morning. 2. Night sweats that soak my bed making it almost unbearable to stay in. I was laying in bed this morning, and you could feel the sweat form, ball up, and roll down my back and chest. It's SCARY cause it is so wierd! 3. Stomach pain, I now need a Nexium morning AND night. 4. Toes on one foot feel tingly-numb and now half the toes of the other foot as well. 5. Heart palpitation, panic attacks. Just out of the blue. 6. MORE groin pain, not less. 7. And generally... I just feel like hell. NOT what I expected or ever WARNED ABOUT before my decision to try Humira. I was observed in hospital overnight&told I was OK. The next day, I got into a car accident!! THERE WERE NO WARNINGS ON THIS DRUG ABOUT OPERATING HEAVY MACHINERY - until 'used to its effects' or otherwise! But im confident in blaming my mental state for this incident. >>My accident convinced me to pause the humira. Several days after this, I noticed the mind-fog as it dissipated, once enough of the drug left my system. >>MOST of the above had to be relayed to me by my loved ones who endured my behavior while I was on humira. Other than flashes, I have no recollection of the month I was on this drug! Only in hindsight do I notice the difference! @the time I thought I was fine...every1 else was nuts...quite disturbing! >>It DID affect my psoriasis. My elbow plaque is almost gone. I have other skin areas which did not improve. But I was prescribed humira for the arthritis which did not improve. >>With its wide range of known&unknown side effects&its failure to improve my psoriatic arthritis.
