| 1 | Tooth Extraction | Mild Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Hunger pains, Stomach pains . | I'm allergic to penicillin, so the dentist prescribed me erythromycin . First day I was fine, nothing to unusual . Then I woke up in the morning at around 7am and I felt nauseated . I would lean over the bed but nothing would come up . A couple hours later I finally got up, still felt groggy . I ate some toast, took the first dose of my medicine and still felt the same, but now with hunger pains, even if I ate, I felt as if I haven't . It was time for my 2nd dose and I took it with milk, big mistake . Few hours later I was puking in a parking lot . I am going back monday to remove my stitches and possibly change my prescription . Let me tell you it is the WORST anti-biotic ever! Yesterday i slept fpr 18 hours straight, Then i was still tired! I have had extremely bad stomache cramps, i've had bad hunger pains, then after i've eaten my appetite is gone and i feel like i'm about to be sick, One minute i'm constipated, the next i have Diarrhea, if i've been lying/sitting down, and then i stand up i feel light headed and dizzy! I Reccomend that you DO NOT take these!! AVOID | F | 21 | 2 days 500 mg 4X day | 5/17/2011 | 1 | chest and ear infection | nothing for 24hrs then nausea, vomiting, spaced out, shaking, hot and cold sweats, unable to move or be touched as it made me feel more sick yet unable to get comfortable, loss of appetite, diahorrea | took amoxicillin for a chest infection and ear infection in both ears with no effect,was then given erythromycin and was looking forward to starting it as i wanted to be able to hear again, wish id never botherd i feel 100times worse. started feeling slightly nauseaus after a day but put it down to being hungry and took my next dose,then it got worse, dry heaving started, went upto bed and the side effects carried on til midnight, hope i feel better in the morning. bf rang drs to ask what to do and was told to stop taking them and just keep hydrated, and to go back in 2 days and shell try me on something else, terrified of the same thing happening now i honestly thought i was going to need to go a & e. will be reading up on any future abx before taking it after just trusting the doctor itd be ok i wont anymore. my advice is to try them, and listen to ur body!if u feel nauseous,STOP taking them, it will get worse if u have any more. | F | 22 | 10 days 500mg 4X day | 5/17/2011 | 1 | Pharyngitis | Nausea, Vomiting, Depression, Constantly hungry but eating does not fix this | I started off on Amoxycillian to treat a severe case of bacterial pharyngitis, which didn't fix the problem, so my doc put me on erythromycin. Been on it for one and a half days (taken 4 pills, refuse to take the 5th). I have never felt so lousy in my life. I've been having constant hunger pains which eating will not solve, and severe nausea for about 3-4 hours at a time after taking a pill. Vomiting usually follows, but doesn't ease nausea. And for a generally cheery person I am feeling very depressed, which I also put down to this hell drug. Not taking it any longer, after reading people in similar cases I'm not sure why it is still being prescribed. Going to an after hrs clinic to get a new script (its the weekend), stuff the cost, I refuse to take this drug. I'm allergic to penicillin and had to stop taking cipro before because of similar, yet more intense, side effects I'm currently experiencing with Erythromycin. My side effects started with my 2nd dose and I thankfully only have one more pill to take and will be done. I'm concerned that the mental/psychological side effects are not listed in the accompanying literature with this drug since it appears there are quite a number of others experiencing the exact same thing as I am. I'm going to reduce my dosage to 4 or 5 per day and i'll hopefully manage to cope with this pain. I have stomach problems anyway, ibs. I did notice that after taking this drug ive had a lot of issues, anxiety in regards to travelling, my stomach cant handle certain foods, especially wheat...i wonder if erythromycin worsened my stomach problems? I wouldnt take it, don't think its worth the hassle.
