| 3 | patch irritated my skin | I got the shot once. For the most part I had no real side effects, I only gained like 2 pounds, my thighs got a little thicker and my butt got a little bigger (which i don't have a problem with). I got the shot in August after that i didn't get my period like they told me, but in October I started spotting and the continued for a whole month. I was takin off my mothers health insurance and my doctor said she was going to charge me 150 to give me the shot so I didn't go back for the next one. | Now after the shot its like i won't stop bleeding. I was started spotting in the middle of October for almost all of November. When it stoped it was only for a day or two because then I got my period which was heavy for 1 day then pretty lite. I normally get my period for 4 or 5 days but I've had it for a little more than 2 weeks, it goes for lite to heavy and heavy to lite. Its just crazy because I've been bleeding since October and its now December. The shot kept me from getting pregnant which i wanted, but I didn't want the whole spotting thing. I thought it would be the safest and most discreet way of preventing pregnancy because I was having sex very often. My sex drive did not decrease and it did what it was supposed to do-it prevented pregnancy. Nevertheless, I knew from the start when I fainted twice at the doctor's office and had a minor ceizure after reciving the shot that there was something shady about the drug. I gained weight, got acne, and I would cry often for no reason. I am off the depo now and I am continually spotting a little every day in addition to my period which now comes regularly. I hope to get back to normal and I wouldn't recomend this to anyone--the risks are far greater than the benefits. New research of the shot is showing a correlation to cancer, and that's not something I want to add to the side effects of this drug. I have heard of irregular bleeding after being on Depo. I can only hope that the irregularity is more like once every few months rather than three months straight like mine were before I got on the Depo.
