| 5 | Anxiety, ibs, insomnia, nausea | Drowsy feeling actually nice at bedtime due to suffering insomnia, lightheaded feeling and groggy almost hang over feeling the next day , sweatiness and weight gain. | I've been on Prozac before but the side effects are just to much to bare, so I tried amitriptyline after reading reviews on other sites , it did make me feel a bit rubbish the first few weeks but that soon settled and no way near as bad as the Prozac I was near death on the start up with that one, it took at least a couple of months for my symptoms to improve but once they did I felt the best I had in ages my ibs improved by 90% and the nausea went completely and I had it bad all day every day due to anxiety, the insomnia improved so much I was wide awake every night till 4/5am them up at 8am now I'm asleep by midnight, the anxiety is 80% improved I will take that because I was completely controlled by my anxiety and all the nasty problems it brought with it I wasn't leaving the house at all, now I'm almost living my life like I was before the anxiety started, there are alot of bad reviews for this med but given time it can work really well, I've been on it before came off due to feeling better wish I hadn't because all my symptoms came back, the only thing I will say it's a tough drug to come off but i tapered down and withdrawal lasted 4 weeks wasn't pleasant because the rebound insomnia was hell, so maybe keep that in mind before starting it , but it has and does work well for me with minimal side effects we are all differe | F | 50 | 3 years 25mg 1X day | 4/5/2023 | 3 | Fibromyalgia/ insomnia | Lightheaded, strange fuzzy head every day, sweating, weight gain , numb arms and hands, eventually it oddly started causing stomach pains and nausea. | Didn't really do much for fibromyalgia but it did help with insomnia in the beginning, after a few months it no longer worked at all for insomnia and I basically felt odd everyday a strange fuzzy foggy head and lightheaded and although this is meant to help with ibs symptoms it actually caused them in me , I gained a lot of weight and just felt sweaty and tired all the time decided to just quit cold turkey was ok at first but 7 days in the worst withdrawal effects started awful insomnia, bad hot flushes , nausea, headache, and horrendous stomach pains and diarrhoea on day 10 of withdrawal and it's really bad but I just want it out of my system and will ride out the withdrawal never going back on amitriptyline it did nothing but cause me to feel strange withdrawal even on low dose is brutal. | F | 49 | 1 years 10mg 1X day | 2/12/2023 | 1 | Background pain arthritis | Upon the drs ceasing 10 Mg cold turkey in hospital after an op - my father is experiencing extreme discontinuation syndrome - tremors, hot and cold sweats, agitated muscles legs , abdominal pain , back pain , all over body pain . When I have a lot of stress or worry to much, I can't sleep very well. I also have chronic pain caused by Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Recently I increased the dosage to 25 mg because of an increase in pain and insomnia. I went from 10 mg to 15 for 1 week, to 20 mg for 3 weeks and to 25 mg for 4 days now . My sleep has improved and I experience less pain but still have to take other painkillers. Going from 20 mg to 25 mg I felt very tired in the morning but after 2 days it felt better. My mouth is a bit dry, but I know this will disappear in time. On 10 mg I had no weight gain or an increase in hunger or cravings . I don't know if this will change now I'm on 25 mg. But I will let you know after some time. When starting this medication 10 mg was too much for me. I did cut the pill in half untill I felt good enough to take 10 mg. I have read all the reviews on this site for Elavil. A pity is that so many people do not mention how much Elavil they are taken. When I see Dosage: 1xD, I have no idea how much Elavil it is. Therefore it is not possible to get a good idea of the medication. Side effects increase when dosages are higher.
