5  Depression, anxiety When attempting to switch to another antidepressant because of insurance reasons, I got extremely dizzy. This has been the best antidepressant I have ever been on, secondary to Prozac which sadly just stopped working. This has been the drug that works amazingly for my symptoms. F 44 3 years

5  Depression and anxiety Nausea, motion sickness even while being the driver, shakes and sweats, feeling a bit too amped up, bruxism, dry mouth, constipation. I am obviously a new user to pristiq, having only been on it for 2 weeks, so take this with a grain of salt. I have a disease similar to lupus that causes so many symptoms that I may have had more side effects without knowing. This disease also makes me exceptionally sensitive to medication and I tend to get every rare side effect on the book (and it's no different with this one. I've gotten a few of the concerning side effects and my Dr and I are just monitoring it for now. I'm also extremely sensitive to serotonin and I and my brother have had serotonin syndrome several times, including any time we tried an ssri, so I was very nervous to try an snri. I take bupropion xl (300mg) Lorazepam (1-2mg) pristiq sustained release (25mg) phentermine (37.5mg) in the am and trazadone (200mg) seroquel (50mg) unisom (doxylamine, 50mg) omprazole (20mg) at night. I also take 800mg of ibuprofen 2 to 3 times a day. While I still worry about serotonin syndrome, as it's still building in my system, from the very first day the results were huge for me. I have severe clinical depression and generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and a panic disorder that has only just begun the last year of so. I feel good. Yeah I get a bit shaky, and sometimes I struggle to spit my words out, which I'm used to with my disease, but I can't describe it. The depression is always there, but it's like I'm hearing it knock through a 10" solid steel door. I hardly am even conscious of it. F 35 14 days

5  Depression Anxiety Just have to take it same time every day. Just within a few hours of not taking my dose for the day I get side effects of headache, nausea, etc. Missing a whole day causes that next day of being very ill. Otherwise if take like clockwork it has been the best antidepressant ever. F 47 8 months

4  PMDD Reduced sexual desire, yawning, tiredness. Pristiq has helped lift my chronic depression before and during menstruation. It has improved my relationship and I have not had suicidal thoughts since taking it. I don't experience overwhelming sadness and hopelessness anymore. I don't feel emotionally numb however, I think since the cloud has been lifted I am feeling love towards my family more. I have lost 4kgs as I am not binge eating also. F 28 30 days

5  Schizoaffective, ocd, panic, anxiet None Helped my ocd and the depression part of my schizoaffective a lot, with less sexual side effects than my previous antidepressant, which is primarily why I switched. I am able to enjoy sex again. I did quickly have to go to 100mg for it to work well for me. After about a year on it though my depression is beginning to come back so I am actually switching to another antidepressant that is supposed to be more effective for my eating disorder. F 31 1 years

4  Major depressive disorder I was taking it for several years at 50 mg at first and then bumped up to a hundred milligrams. After my mom died I went up to 150 and then to 200. Once I got up to 200 I experienced significant brain fog and cognitive decline. I have weaned off and tried trintellix to which I had an allergic reaction with much itching and then viibryd which I could only take for two days. I may go back to pristiq if my psychiatrist suggests it. I did have weight gain. It has some sexual side effects but not horrible. I might ask if I could go back on pristiq and supplement it with something else. Pristiq was really amazing for me for many years. Worked well for me for many years in the 50 and 100 milligram dosages. F 48 4 years

3  MD, anxiety yawning, headaches, dry mouth, extreme fatigue/excessive sleeping, fidgeting, intense but hard to reach orgasms, panic attacks, head spins, biting tongue in sleep (so weird), zero emotion at times, vivid dreams, decreased appetite, rapid heartbeat I'm only 3 weeks in and the side effects are starting to disappear except for the yawning, mild anxiety and rapid heartbeat. I definitely noticed reduced side effects when I'm eating healthier. but I'm nervous to continue because of the wd symptoms. does anyone know if I could go cold turkey after this short amount of time? hasn't really helped with depression yet but I have noticed more energy. I think I'm better off not taking Pristiq. F 32 24 days

1  Major depressive disorder Severe nausea, constipation, weight gain. I was extremely nauseated on Pristiq - so much so that my doctor had to prescribe me Zofran, which I took 1-2 times a day. I was waking up with severe nausea, so my doctor also prescribed Phenergan to be taken at night to try to combat the morning nausea. And Pristiq made me seriously constipated. I had to take a fiber supplement and stool softener daily. I was taking a total of 4 medications just to combat Pristiq's side effects. Also, Pristiq can decrease appetite and help people lose weight. It was the opposite for me. I gained 15 pounds in 3 months!! Pristiq did lift my mood some, but it was totally not worth all the side effects that came along with it. I'm now on a different antidepressant and trying to lose the weight I gained on Pristiq.
