| 1 | Heartburn / Acid Reflux | I have been having numbness of hands and feet, headaches, anxiety, brain fog, weakness/fatigue, constipation to worse heartburn. | I began taking pepcid because my primary care provider advised that Ranitidine had been recalled and there was a lawsuit against the company for allegedly causing cancer. At first the Pepcid was great, seem to help. I could eat spicy food or even foods with onion or garlic and have no heartburn. However, then I started to realize that the side effects were not worth it or me. I don't know if anyone else gets dry mouth with a thick yellow or brownish phlegm stuck in your throat but every morning I would wake up to feeling like I couldn't breathe well and a feeling like something was stuck in my throat. I would cough and it was always a thicker darker phlegm on top of the numbness of my left hand and leg. During the day I would take the pepcid before breakfast sometimes not until before lunch and I would feel brain fog and fatigue the rest of the day. I couldn't pin point the side effects until I stopped taking the pepcid. I was hesitant at first to stop taking it, afraid of the acid rebound but after reading the reviews here I was determined to stop taking it and any other strong antacids. I slowly tapered it down, from 40mg a day to 20mg to 10mg a day and eventually zero. I am now researching on more natural ways to deal with my acid reflux/gerd. There are other ways to deal with it in a better way than what antacids can do to you. Educate yourself with making your gut healthy in natural ways, healthy diet, natural enzymes like bananas, papayas or find a trust worthy source of natural supplements for your condition. | It did work by temporarily calming my acid down but it is definitely not a cure and not for long term use. The side effects are not worth it either. It will cause you more health problems in the long run. Not as common as acute anxiety, breathing issues excetera. But yes this was going on with some people and GI issues. Bad ones.
