I was so fearful and confuse as to what was going on. It took me two weeks and a trip to the ER to link it to HEARTBURN PILLS. This should be ILLEGAL! I can't describe the fear I was feeling. The sensation that something AWFUL was about to happen, or was happening and I didn't know what it was or what to do. It started gradually… I would be talking to my husband and suddenly, it would be as if I was listening to someone else speak, but it was me speaking, so I would stop and be startled. I could hear myself as if I was someone else. My mind was RACING and I was having the most intrusive thoughts. I would wake up beyond depressed. I am in my mid thirties and life for me is great right now, all things considered, but I was waking up feeling like I had f***ed up and ruined everything and there was no reason to get out of bed. I say all of this because I know what the hopeless nightmare of panic and depression feels like. If this medication brought you here, stop taking it. You will feel better soon. I decided to try Pepcid instead last night to see if it worked better. Mistake! It worked great at first, but about an hour after taking it, I started to feel dizzy. My heart was racing. My pulse was 135 bpm while standing still. I felt faint and sick at my stomach. When lying down, my pulse dropped to around 110 bpm. Normal bp. I thought something terrible was happening. I couldn’t figure out what was going on and I was very scared. That’s when I remembered the Pepcid and decided to see if dizziness and a rapid pulse were side effects of it. Turns out, they are (thanks to everyone here for sharing your stories). I was very tired, so I went ahead and went to bed, but I didn’t sleep well at all. I tossed and turned all night and had nightmares. I woke up from them at least twice with a racing heart. I also woke up to pee three times, when I usually never wake up to use the bathroom. It’s now the next morning and I feel a lot better. My pulse is still fast, especially when standing, but now it only gets up to 115 bmp and is in the 90s while sitting or lying. I no longer feel nauseous, dizzy or anxious. Still tired. I hope I will be 100% back to normal by tomorrow. I‘ve read that it takes 24-48 hours to leave your system. Did not vomit or feel nausea after that change. I have my senior moments but not confused, no anxiety, bad dreams or funny feelings with my heart. I ran out and ended up going to cvs and getting their brand of famotidine 20mg and I took 2 of them. The ear pressure freaked me out, which got my heart rate, which got my blood pressure up. I immediately thought I was bleeding on my brain. I had vertigo and literally started walking into things. That being said, I've taken famotidine for years and never had a reaction like that. I have notice slight anxiety issues in the past 4 years but never thought it could be famotidine. I've been to the ER 3 times in 2 years thinking I was having a heart attack but they said my heart is good. I may have found my source of anxiety now thanks to this thread. Keep your head up and get out of the worry cycle. Stay distracted and occupied, and what's important, take time to relax. You have been worrying about those anxiety attacks and other side effects from this medication for a while, and you are now stuck in a vicious cycle. I would recommend getting little help from CBT. There are a great resources for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to change those worries. I'm already on SSRI for that. After less than a week of Pepcid I have noticed a dramatic increase in my anxiety attacks. Pepcid should come with those warnings!! It does not appear that it only affects persons with anxiety disorder either. There is a connection between our gut and brains, one would think that the company would warn is of these horrible side effects.
