About a year later I started having panic attacks but thought nothing of it. Started on zantac and was fine. I had to change back over to the pepcid after zantac recall. Since back on it my anxiety is so bad I am unable to go in stores or function like a normal person. I have stopped this medication today so hopefully things will be better. I bought some Pepcid which I thought would be the same as Zantac which I had taken before. Within a day I was feeling so nervous and anxious which I have never done in my life . I'm a very calm easy going person so this was very out of character for me. Once I was back home I made an appointment with a cardiologist because I seriously thought it could be a heart related problem. I also made an appointment with a gastric physician. Long story short, heart was ok, gastric doctor said it was probably gastritis and a possible ulcer so he prescribed Pepcid. All this time I had kept taking over the counter Pepcid and then started prescription Pepcid. No idea the medicine was causing these issues For two months I continued with the heart palpitations, Anxiety and feeling I was just going crazy or something serious was going on with my body. It wasn't until I found this site and read about others having the same issues with this medication that I stopped taking it immediately. Once I stopped the medicine I have never had another issue with anxiety, heart palpitations or shortness of breath. Week three however, was much worse. Started out with leg cramps, which i initially attributed to change in diet. These cramps turned into pain in my calves and shins and occasionally in my thighs and hips. I had pins and needles in my feet and hands, and pain in my wrists that i thought might be carpal tunnel.
