So my NP put me on Pepcid. About 7 days in to taking it I began to feel OFF. It happened every day at the same time. It was a feeling I can't explain. It would last for hours then go away. Then I began to have more symptoms, weakness, feeling like I wasn't present (depersonalization), anxiety, felt revved up on the inside, trouble thinking, trouble getting a sentence out, tinnitus really bad, hot face with needles in it, agitation, irritable, numb lips and scalp, physically shaking, no appetite and more. This just all progressively got worse. It didn't dawn on me until instead of having it a few hours I had it all day on Saturday. Then when I took my evening dose I got so bad I felt like I lost my mind! It was pure TORTURE!!! I knew then it was the Pepcid. I decided not to take it the next day and I felt like my old self again. So I didn't take it the next day. I was good, but I got super nauseated with gastritis symptoms. The next day I was sick the moment I woke up. I tried taking Gaviscon, but it did not help. By 11am my stomach was burning. I was on fire. I figured it was a rebound effect, but I gave in and took the Pepcid. BAD CHOICE! I HAD ALL THE ABOVE SYMPTOMS 10 X WORSE!! THIS IS POISON!!! I went to my Facebook Gastritis support group and posted what I was going through and asked if anyone had gone through the same thing. Yep, a lot of people did when on this crappy drug!! This should be BANNED! I stopped about 12 days ago and depression is gone and needles in arms are gone but the anxiety came back and still there for the last 4 days non stopped . I just hope the problem was indeed this med and will eventually clear out but it is so scary. In February 2023 I started to develop intense anxiety out of nowhere. I've never had issues with anxiety like this before. Continued to take it for two weeks because couldn't identify the cause, until I did. I experienced a full suite of side effects led by INCREDIBLE anxiety, loud heart palpitations, depression, chills, tremors, cold hands/feet, and significantly reduced appetite (I dropped 20 pounds). I stopped taking it in march 2023, and in May 2023 I am still experiencing reduced side effects including some anxiety and depression, some chills, and some mild heart palpitations. | This drug is evil and should be removed from the market at SPEED. I completely understand why people are so worried about feeling normal again. Just remember that those worries about lifelong suffering or believing that you'll never get better ARE SYMPTOMS themselves. They're not YOU. Don't believe everything you think, because this stuff messes with your thoughts/feelings. My side effects have reduced fairly steadily with some mild relapses so far. I'm able to eat again! I think all I need is more time, and I am still able to function day to day for the most part. Talk therapy could be helpful, as verbalizing suffering is valuable. If you're sensitive to this, definitely do a lot of research about antidepressants/anti-anxiety medications first, as tempting as they are. PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU NEED SUPPORT. I AM HERE FOR YOU. You don't have to suffer through it alone. I may have figured it out. Look up Dysbiosis. This may be the culprit behind all of our suffering. Focus on healing your digestive system. That's the key.
