| 1 | bronchitis | Fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, montezuma like stomach cramps, dizziness, excruciating muscle pains in neck, lower back and legs. | 8:30 pm took 1st and only pill. By 10:00 pm I was experiencing severe stomach cramps, watery diarrhea. After spending most of the night on the toilet I awoke to a stabbing pain in my neck and back. I could barely walk and went to the ER. I was given fluids (I was extremely dehydrated from the diarrhea) benadryl and vicodin. The pain was so excruciating, the vicodin could only take the edge off. I slept the first day and a half, waking (screaming in pain) only to take vicodin. My poor children were terrified, I felt like I was dying and I must have looked like it too. It is now day 3 and I am better, although I am still experiencing pain (5 on the pain scale) in one buttock. Gave me my first penile yeast infection (WOHOO!, good stuff) but it cleared my UTI in no time. It started to sread into my foot and it began to swell. The doctor told me that I may have waited to long to see him and that the infection might require additional treatment at a specialized clinic. Before we did this he wanted to at least try an antibiotic. He gave Augmentin 875 and after just 36 hours the redness and swelling was almost 100% clear. The doctor was even suprised with the results. They weren't very bothersome and cleared up with Benadryl, and it might have been a reaction to the original fever, but I was taken off the medication and am not allowed to take penicillin-class drugs anymore. | If you are allergic to this drug, be careful of sulfa drugs, as it increases your risk of being allergic to those. I was given Bactrim as an alternative to Augmentin a few weeks ago and had a far more severe reaction to that than to the amoxicillin, including a brutal, burning, itchy rash all over my body and a fever that didn't fade for several days. I had had a UTI for a long time that I couldn't get rid of with anything else. I also had muscle aches and stiffness. | I ended up in the ER twice to have IV fluids because, and I'm not exagerrating, I was on the toilet crapping bloody mucous about every 60 minutes for two or three days so I couldn't sleep for more than an hour at a time. If you experience similar symptoms of severe diarrea, talk to your doctor immediately; in addition to the risk of dehydration, pseudomembranous colitis can cause the body to go into shock and is potentially fatal. About a month after I stopped Augmentin I had another episode of PMC and ended up in the ER while on vacation.
