| 1 | Diverticulitis | Severe anxiety and panic, insomnia, very dry mouth, excessive thirst, oral thrush, yeast infection, stomach pain, severe diarrhea, headache, chest pain/tightness, metallic taste, no appetite, weight loss, tingling in arms, back pain, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some but my fingers are tired. | This is my second time dealing with diverticulitis. The first time I was given 2 different antibiotics (Cipro and Metro) and did ok. This time, a different physician prescribed the Augmentin. I was ok till about the 4th day and then all hell broke loose. Think twice before taking this medication. Thought I was developing a migraine condition that I've never had before or something worse in my head. The ache-like pain I was developing in my eye socket made me feel like I was really developing a sinus infection. Was having trouble focusing on objects, like when a camera goes in and out trying to adjust a clear focus on an object. Taking naps everyday bc of fatigue. A day off of the pills I felt a difference in the intensity of this head pain and decided to google side effects of this med and found this site. I'm starting the 4th day off of the pills. Day 2 off I didn't have any head pain. Day 3 off, I did have the mild head pain again for a few hours. Waiting it out for a week or 2 to see if the headaches fully disappear, if they have anything to do with side effects of Augmentin, or Something different. | F | 31 | 10 days | 5/17/2020 | 1 | Very minor cat bite(superficial) | I took the first pill out of the pack in the afternoon and 4 hours later I had chills, felt hot and cold and had a burning sensation on my body, but I had no temperature when I checked. I had a burning hot shower to warm me up because I felt cold but also felt hot! It was soooo strange. The next morning, I woke up so dizzy that when I lay flat i started spinning. When I bent over or looked up I started spinning. My stomach was a mess and I had diarrhea four times. I had extreme nausea and couldnt eat anything. | The doc prescribed over the phone due to the current pandemic situation, he wanted to prevent any infection. My bite was only on the top of my skin and had no sign of skin being broken. After 3 days of the bite there was no swelling or sign of infection, long story short I should have sent the doc a photo to show how minor it was because I really didnt need these antibiotics at all! I've had amoxicillin and that was fine but this was next level way too strong for my body. I took activated charcoal pills throughout the day to absorb the antibiotic. Switched to Augmentin which has cross reactivity with cefuroxime/Zinacef. After first dose, I had an attack which involved heavily cold sweeting. On day 3 I got oral thrush and extreme anal dryness leading to fissure. I was on break for two day from antibiotics due to these symptoms but was started again as otitis media symptoms came back. On day 4 of Augmentin, allergic arthritis symptoms came back and much severe. Pain in Knee joints, ankle joints, wrists and small hand joints. along with blurred vision, agitation. I felt as if I was having a heart attack every single night. It was hard to breathe my stomach was in severe pain and so was my chest. I was overly anxious and couldn’t stop shaking and crying. I never slept. I couldn’t even walk around without feeling like I was going to pass out, I didn’t even feel like I was in my own body. This drug is literally of the devil. It got to the point where I thought I was dying and I wanted to go to the ER. I do not recommend taking this drug if you have panic or anxiety disorder. It makes everything worse. I feel worse now... than with the bronchitis and the sinus infection. I am so sick I can’t even tell if the drug helped in anyway shape or form.
