| 1 | middle ear infection | diarrhea, nausea, hot flashes, dizziness while taking drug. More symptoms have occured since finishing the treatment. Re: headaches and tremors. The tremors started within a week of completion and are almost non-stop now. | I have had my daughter to the ER, Family Doctor, and Neurologist. We have been running tests and can not find the reason for the tremors. All I know is that my daughter only had an ear infection with no other symptoms prior to taking Augmentin 875. On days two and three I had muscle aches in my thighs, upper arms and not as often my calf muscles. By day 4 the muscle aches did not go away. They were 24/7. Not extremely painful, but it was a dull pain that did not go away. It got a little worse, and seemed to move around a bit, sometimes just my thighs, sometimes my upper arms and my thighs, etc. It moved between muscle groups but didn't go away completely until about a day after the last pill I took. I was also very jittery the whole time, it felt like I had consumed an enormous ammount of caffeine (I had none) and that went away as soon as I stopped taking the pills. I also had a lot of trouble sleeping. The worst part was the muscle pain, it was not excruciating, but the fact that it was constant made it almost unbearable. I will do whatever I can to avoid this drug in the future. Oh, and when I called the doc to report my muscle pain, I was told it "wasn't clearly related.&quo | F | 27 | 10 days | 3/29/2007 | 2 | sinus infection | diarrhea and mild rash | This med worked very well on my sinus infection, but the diarrhea was too severe to keep taking it so I had to switch to something else. Side effects cleared within 48 hours of cessation. I would add that it is **imperative to take a PROBIOTIC (like acidophilus)** when you take any antibiotic, and people here who got thrush most likely would have avoided it by simply taking probiotics and eating yogurt with active cultures. The peanut butter toast sticks to your bones without being too heavy and it tends to cut the nausea at least in half if you do this... i have been on several different antibiotics in the past(for pinolidal cyst)this one isn't great but it definitely is not the worst one i have taken. i think it is just irritating to feel crappy and then add on to it ... so i understand everyones feelings. In the beginning I was very vigilant about eating LOTS AND LOTS of yogurt, at least 3x/day. I started forgetting about the yogurt after a week and that is when the pains/loose motion started. Yogurt is very helpful because it keeps replenshing the good bacteria in your GI tract, which is constantly being killed doff by the antibiotoic. Body parts itching: upper thighs, chest, stomach area, upper arms, arms. However the worst itchy feeling was in the extremeties (hands and feet). Wierdly enough, no itchy feelings on face or scalp area; I suspect it has to do with those parts of the body with more blood flowing. As with some other postings, the itchiness started on day 3, at which point I thought it was dry skin and put some oil on my skin (a futile attempt). By the 5th day itching was over the top. Stopped medication on 7th day, now using cefuroxime axetil, but it doesn't seem to be as powerful as augmentin in treating strep throat. Turns out the bacteria had actually developed resistance to it and throat was not even getting better. Waiting for culture to find out what the alternatives are. | Washing hands in cold water helped the itching. If there was a different option I would NEVER EVER go for this medication.
