Itchiness on face, and slight swelling of the throat. | I used to take Aleve every time I had a headache (no more than a 3-4 times a month), with no side effects whatsoever. I got pregnant in May of 08 and no longer took the drug. Today, I took some for the first time for a headache since I am no longer nursing. Hives broke out over 80% of my body! First it was on hands, then spread viciously up arms, down to thighs, around to back, hips, butt & feet. Then here's the kicker: my ears became red & itchy, and then my scalp & breasts! Horrible itch with no relief in sight! I took 1 Benadryl (too afraid to take too much of anything now) and some of the itching/hives have lessened significantly. Aleve does knock out the pain, but the other side effects are so NOT worth it. I'll try my luck again with Motrin. Might have to take more, but won't have to worry about the bothersome repercussions as with Aleve. | Spent approx. $16 + change on a bottle of 200 Aleve. Took only 2 tablets & the 198 remaining will collect dust & ultimately disintegrate for all I care!!! I had never tried Aleve before but could not find anyone with Tylenol. A co-worker asked if I wanted to try Aleve so I did. Worked great and has ever since. I rarely get headaches but my back pain is a bit more frequent. It works awesome on both. Thank God for this website. I have taken Aleve on and off over approx 6 mos. & have never experienced any allergic reaction to it or any foods or NSAIDS. Over the past 6 weeks, however, taking Aleve periodically, my lower lip swelled and within 1-2 days painful blistering developed on lower inside lip. Put everything together three days ago.. Took at 11:00 pm, woke at 2:00 am with a HUGE swollen lip, three times normal size. I took 3 Benadryl and four hours later took 3 more. No change. Went to Dr. at 12:00 Noon that day and she said I could take Benadryl & 24 hr. Claritin at the same time (according to instructions on meds) since they have different active ingredients to hit it harder. Almost 3 days later, lip is less swollen and tingly but blistering on inside of lower lip is very painful with white blotches & red inflamation. Trouble slee | After seeing this website, my husband now realizes why he was getting those itchy, annoying rashes for the past year on and off as he was taking it for his back pain intermittently. NEITHER MY HUSBAND OR I WILL EVER TAKE THIS MEDICATION AGAIN. I AGREE, IT SHOULD BE OFF THE MARKET. I thought I had increased sensitivity to the sun because of my age and because of other medications (Nexium and hydrochlorothiazide), and that my sunscreen had stopped working. After wearing a hat for a few days, then staying indoors a couple of days, and still having the rashes, I figured it out. The rashes went away when I stopped taking Aleve. There is a silly comment on your site, by the way, from a skeptic who doesn't believe this is possible in a "normal" person. He should be open to the testimony of others even if these effects are not universal. My use of Aleve was infrequent until a fall a couple of weeks ago. After that, I think I took it on average 3 times every two days until I realized it was causing my rashes. I did take it once a while early this past summer while traveling, and am not sure whether it caused rashes or sunburn back then. She popped the blister with a needle and cultured it. All negative. Put me on Predisone. Went away.
