| 1 | back pain | I gave my daughter 2 pills for back pain. Within10 mins her lips were swollen, her eyes and hands were itching. This has happened before, but we thought it was seasonal allergies as she has those. I figured they had just gotten worse. But now I believe it was Aleve. From past experience, her lips will eventually stop swelling and then blisters will form in the corners of her mouth. The whole process takes at least a week. Throwing the bottle away! My wife called an ambulance and immediately I was given a drug for sudden drop in blood pressure (this can be life threatening) and Benadryl for the allergic reaction. I spent the night at the hospital ER. I have taken Aleve several times in the past (only one tablet at a time) with no side effects. But after this scary episode I suspect that the body become sensitive/allergic to Aleve even with infrequent usage. It seemed to be growing larger after scratching so I looked at it in the mirror and there were like 4 big blisters in the same area surrounded by smaller blisters. The blister I had scratched merged into another blister and continued growing up and outwards. The itching was terrible felt like fire ants running through my blood with a gang of mosquitos. Within minutes of this first symptom my left ear started ringing and making a weird air like sound going through it. When I went to lay down my throat felt as though it was getting tighter and harder to swallow. | I was terrified to go to sleep for the night and not wake up in the morning. I will NEVER take this medicine again! Out of nowhere, I vomited four times, and then began to feel better. I guess I got the Aleve out of my system! | I will NEVER take Aleve again. Shortly after going to bed one evening, I got up to take an Aleve because hip pain was keeping me awake. I still had a fairly full stomach from a late dinner out with friends. Within 20 minutes my palms started tingling and itching intensely. I got up to run them under cold water, thinking that would help. Very quickly my face started to turn red and I felt nauseous. A few minutes later I threw up everything in my stomach. My full stomach must have slowed the rate of absorption of the med into my system. While I was experiencing the nausea, I noticed hives around my wrists and my hands had swollen significantly. A few minutes afther throwing up my symptoms started to subside. At first I thought I'd had an allergic reaction to the clams in my dinner, but I couldn't account for the almost two hour delay of symptoms. I now realize it had to be the Aleve.
