5  Type 2 diabetes Very bad headache, constipation My headaches are bad. It's the kind where if I just turn my head to the side it hurts more. Also headache is only on left side of my head. Sometimes I'll have headache all week 24/7. Then all of a sudden it's gone maybe almost a week. Then it starts hurting again all of a sudden. I take medicine for headache but it never goes away completely with medication. I don't know if the headaches are worth it. But my A1C is perfect. F 56 4 months

2  PCOS, weight loss Nausea and vomiting ++, diarrhea +++, acid reflux and sulphur burps My first 3 weeks were fine. Then the vomiting, diarrhea and sulphur burps came. Where there were sulphur burps - there was vomiting and diarrhea. I have had to miss work for multiple days due to the vomiting and diarrhea. I'm down 12 pounds, and I'm hoping to stick with it longer. I was supposed to increase to 0.5 last week, but am staying at .25 until these side effects get better. I don't know how much longer I can take. But I'm going to do my best. How long did it take the vomiting to go away for others? Diarrhea? F 29 5 weeks

4  Weight loss Loss of appetite and cravings. BM used to be daily, now every 3 days, but not uncomfortable. My a1c is 36/5.4. Gained 5lbs at first, lost that + another 6lbs to date. Very lucky I know. Now starting 4 x .75mg Endocrinologist prescribed after rheumatologist referred me - I am v overweight and need to lose weight to relieve my joints. I'm on a fantastic forum on FB - people seem to be losing tens of lbs, but not me, I'm slower. I'm delighted I'm no longer eating mindlessly- I love healthy, low carb food now. So that in itself is making me v happy. I'm putting my review here because people need to hear the good news too. F 46 2 months

4  Type 2 I am preparing this note to assist anyone considering taking (or ceasing to take) Ozempic. It is an expensive and difficult drug, and many type 2’s should think twice before taking it. Like every other drug, it is important to weight the advantages and disadvantages. I have been taking Ozempic for the past four months. As directed, the first month at .25 mg and the subsequent 3 months at .50 mg. Month two was very difficult. Nausea, bloating, constipation… many of the documented side effects… but, and this is obviously significant, my blood glucose dropped to 6 mmol/L - 110 mg/dl and I lost another 25 lbs. 3 years ago, I was 240 lb and started Metformin and Jardiance (both of which I continue to take) and my weight went to 210 and blood glucose went to (and stayed) at 7.5 – 135. The Ozempic helped me loose another 25 lb to 185 and got the blood glucose down further. The side effects of Ozempic can be rough. I went to Novacare’s website and My goal is to stay on it for at most 12 months and then reduce the dosage to .25 mg once a week as a maintenance process. My pharmacist is skeptical, and I haven’t yet discussed the thought with my GP. I found nothing on Novacare’s website commenting on this thought. If anyone here has an opinion on this approach, please let me know The proof will be if the nausea dissipates and my blood glucose stays at an acceptable level. Hopefully, the weight loss will assist. It is really not a drug I want to continue to take any more than necessary. If I continue taking Ozempic, I would like to stop taking either the Metformin or Jardiance… or both. I have not discussed this option with my GP and would like any opinions on this approach as well. Thank you. M 69 4 months

3  Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity In the beginning, it was some nausea the first couple of days and I lost a few pounds about 6-7. After my dose increased to 1mg, I no longer had the nausea, I was able to eat normal amounts. After taking the 1 mg dose for 6 months, I began to have excessive burping and horrible gas that smelled like sulfur, absolutely awful. It doesn't matter if I eat small or larger servings, low carb or high fat, nothing helps. I take an over the counter gas medication but that doesn't help either. I am at a loss at this point. My A1C has gone up even with eating a low carb diet of less than 50 grams a day. When I was doing a low carb diet in the past before using Ozempic, I was able to lose quite a bit of weight but those restricted diets only work if you stay on them which I have not been able to do consistently.  3  Type 2 diabetes I take it each Sunday, Mon-Wed I am sick every day, vomiting, nausea, malaise, if not Diarrhea then constipation. I am never hungry. I would walk around with a bucket. The vomiting is so bad I can't schedule meetings in the beginning of the week because I have no voice from vomiting. Some days I am vomiting. Diarrhea and peeing all at the same time. I know embarrassing. Thank goodness for social distancing. I have to sleep sitting up because I wake up choking on throw up each middle of night and the wee morning hours.I eat very little, and even some days just water. But honestly you would think my readings would be low, they are not. 4 months in i just got my first 101 glucose #. My average, with no eating and throwing everything up is 161. By Thursday I am feeling a bit better. I can sorta enjoy food and even more by Friday but only healthy foods. On Saturday, my body is ready for its new dose on Sunday so I start to feel uneasy. Nauseous all day. Those are of course the bad side effects. While taking this drug, you get immediate punishment if you don't eat well. You learn the hard way to make those necessary changes. Plus side I did lose 25lbs, nice but i was not at an unhealthy weight. I can't take the sickness anymore and plan to ween off. It is interfering with my quality of life. But I will continue a low carb life style. F 47 4 months

1  Type 2 diabetes AWFUL constipation, some nausea. Bowel has been inactive for over a week now and I feel quite ill. The remainder of the pen went in the trash. I never got to the full (1 mg) therapeutic dose, but did see some weight loss, and some reduction in glucose levels. Unfortunately, I have NEVER felt this ill, for ANY reason. M 70 7 weeks

5  Prediabetic and weight loss I have insulin resistance, and have had trouble losing weight and then keeping it off. It would take me 6 months to lose 5 lbs. and then gain it back in a weekend. Ozempic has helped me keep off what I lose, now at 20lbs. lost total. I eat smaller meals and digest slower. If I get severe cramps I take a GasX and it helps a lot. Drink lots of water and you won't get constipated. I eat a small pear or apple to keep regular. Ozempic will tell your stomach who's boss if you eat junk, it's not fun, but you shouldn't be eating it anyway. A year later, the side effects are manageable and the results in my health are worth it. F 47 1 years

1  Overall glucose control I am reactive hypoglycemic and my lows have been lower and my highs higher. I have lost about 10 pounds. Especially nauseous for about 12 hours after med is injected.  5  My A1C would not go below 7 The common effects are nausea when you get started. I lowered my food intake - using small amounts of various foods like yogurt, cottage cheese, jello, coleslaw and the nausea was eased greatly. I had no other side effects I was slow at getting started on the drug because I was also on novolog, metformin and tresiba. I've lowered my novolog from 20 units a meal to 3 units a meal. The Tresiba was lowered from 20 units to 18 units. I was on .25 dose of Ozempic for 6 weeks, then .25 + 1/2 dose (9 clicks) for 2 weeks, .50 dose for 2 weeks, .50 plus 9 clicks for 2 weeks, and then 1.0 for 15 weeks. My A1C went from 7 to 6.2 and I've loss 21 pounds. The mild nausea helps to keep the diet in control and to lose weight. F 62 29 weeks

1  Type 2 diabetes Higher blood glucose after eating absolutely anything. This medication has done absolutely nothing for me. I switched to Ozempic from Januvia and my blood sugar has only increased. My appetite's gone down, but if I eat even a low-carb diet it's guaranteed to spike my blood sugar. My A1C has actually gotten significantly worse, and even raising my basal insulin does nothing to account for the damage Ozempic has done. M 35 2 months
