I lowered my food intake - using small amounts of various foods like yogurt, cottage cheese, jello, coleslaw and the nausea was eased greatly. I had no other side effects | I was slow at getting started on the drug because I was also on novolog, metformin and tresiba. I've lowered my novolog from 20 units a meal to 3 units a meal. The Tresiba was lowered from 20 units to 18 units. I was on .25 dose of Ozempic for 6 weeks, then .25 + 1/2 dose (9 clicks) for 2 weeks, .50 dose for 2 weeks, .50 plus 9 clicks for 2 weeks, and then 1.0 for 15 weeks. My A1C went from 7 to 6.2 and I've loss 21 pounds. After being on that dose for about a month, the symptoms went away. My blood sugars made it down into the 150's. After a few months, I was bumped up to the 1mg. I got all the same symptoms. Blood sugars ran 55-120. A1C went down from close to 14 at the start, to 7.2. Oral meds decreased. | I have troubles staying regular on my shot. I take my actos and glipizide every day, but end up hating poking myself so darn much, that I hadn't taken my shot in almost 2 months. These last almost till the next injection day. I have excruciating upper and lower abdominal pain, sulphur burps and severe nausea, this results in vomiting after almost every meal. I also have severe diarrhoea most days. These side effects were so bad for the first 3 months my GP didnt increase my dose and she stopped another medication I was taking. Since then the side effects arent always as bad, on the odd day I can feel great And the side effects are to a lesser extent!! But the sulphur burps, vomiting, pain, nausea and headaches are still there just to a lesser degree. | It curbed my appetite, probably down to the nausea and vomiting. I find if I eat high fat foods then my side effects are even worse. I also find if I try to eat more than a very small childs portion the side effects kick in severely too. I have lost weight, which is to be expected when you arent eating and you have vomiting & diarrhoea continually. I do keep saying I cant take it anymore its making me feel so ill, but I persevere and will until my bloods are done again at the end of August. If it keeping them in check then I will continue. Stopped taking metformin because of unpredictable diarrhea and now there is a safety recall on it....the side affects of ozempic is worst! It can mess with your pancreas not to mention possibility of thyroid cancer. Make sure you read the fact sheet the pharmacy gives you with this Rx! Noticed mild loss of interest in some foods and decreased appetite. In 3 months have only lost 8 lbs and that's with exercising, 1400 cal day and eating low carbs. Because ozempic can cause hypoglycemia I have switched freestyle libre to dexcom G6 because it has an alarm that will alert you if bs is to high or low and has continuous reading w/o having to constantly check it and no calibration. Hope to find Rx without these side effects...having diarrhea and nausea and having to take more meds like Imodium and pepto bismol is no way to live plus I take care of hospice patients in outpatient settings. These side effects definitely interfere with my job!
