OZEMPIC  (SEMAGLUTIDE):  Semaglutide is used with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes may also lessen your risk of a heart attack or stroke. Semaglutide is similar to a natural hormone in your body (incretin). It works by causing insulin release in response to high blood sugar (such as after a meal) and decreasing the amount of sugar your liver makes. If you use insulin, semaglutide is not a substitute for insulin treatment.   (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA) FDA Approval Date: 2017-12-05

1  Diabetes and weight loss I took the med for 6 weeks, the symptoms got worse each time. Vomiting at least once or twice a day. Diarrhea all the time. Started in with bad stomach cramps, couldn't look at food without being sick. And bad heartburn. I would not recommend it, it dehydrates you, I couldn't even drink my water or sodas, it would make me throw up, and I was hungry, but I could not eat. F 0 weeks

5  Type 2, lower insulin amts Some burping, some constipation, some diarrhea. Very nauseous on some days. Lost about 10 lbs so far. Have noticed meds effect seem to last about 4 days. Ready to increase amt. This Rx has stopped my mindless eating. Food does not look very appealing to me...I now want green veggies and fruit. i have been able to cut my short term insulin in half, and my long term insulin by 1/4. I also take metformin and am hoping to maybe stop taking some meds. I haven't had the severe stomach cramps and wonder if the prilosec i take has helped. F 64 26 days

5  Weight loss Nausea, constipation, sulfur burps, indigestion, acid reflux, bloating and fatigue. Have had several friends lose a ton of weight quickly on ozempic and I myself am FINALLY starting to lose the 160lbs I'd gained due to being on psych meds (Paxil). I have tried literally everything over the last few years to lose the weight and even keto didn't work. Ozempic has weight melting off, while I'm still taking my SSRI meds!!! I will deal with the nausea for that lol, of course this is just me and everyone reacts differently and some can't tolerate unfortunately. — F 35 20 days

1  High blood sugar After starting initial dose the next day my stomach was bloated, unable to hold food or water. Felt very weak, burping, acid reflux, constipation. Had to miss work. I felt like I was dying. After 5 days of this, I called my care provider and he told me to stop the medication. Some people may be able to tolerate it, but I definitely wasn't one of them.  2  Weight loss Nausea, fatigue, stomach pain, chest pain , excessive gas, Burping, flatulence, dizziness, increased heart rate and headache. It's only day 4 and I feel like death. I ended up in ER last night thinking having a heart attack but after numerous tests, scans etc, everything nothing came back as normal. After 5 hours in hospital, l all of a sudden I started to burp these massive smelly burps that wouldn't stop, then the farting started. 24 hours later and it's still bad. I still get chest pain like it's a heart attack. It causes severe pain in my shoulder when the chest pain hits. I feel constantly sick, tired, fatigued, week and my heart is constantly racing. Resting HR has been at 150... If this keeps going like this, I don't think I will be able to stay on it. I will update as time goes on. I'm eating very healthy but I just don't want to eat..  5  Type 2 diabetes None other than dizziness going from floor to sitting/standing usually during intense work-outs. Less hungry and more easily full(which is what this drug is supposed to do). I felt compelled to write this due to all the negative reviews here. I will put a disclaimer on this and say I have only been on this for six weeks so I will plan on an update soon. I am guessing that the reason so many of you are getting sick is you are probably not attempting to change anything about the way you eat. This is not a magic pill where you can eat an entire pizza and two beers. I can tell you what works for me so hopefully some others will be willing to try this. I have been an athlete all my life and have always had a healthy diet. My only downfall was being a social drinker and larger portion sizes. After COVID lockdown I gained another 10 pounds and developed full-blown diabetes. I was already on a low dose of Metformin of 500 mg for pre-diabetes but with excess weight, thyroid condition, menopause, ethnicity, and family history I was doomed. I started Ozempic six weeks ago and have been extremely pleased. I have dropped 12 pounds effortlessly. I am doing nothing different than I was prior to Ozempic other than eating smaller portions. I eat low carb/keto and workout about six hours per week. I make sure to include cardio and strength training. I also have a CGM whichI use to watch BG trends and helps to see what affect different foods/exercise have on my levels. Before Ozempic I was in my BG target range 0% of the time. Now it is like 90%. I see nothing so far but positives from this drug and hope this encourages others to try it. F 53 6 weeks
