| 3 | Depression and sleep | Drugged feeling. wake up standing up uncontrollable orgasms at times | Feel drugged. Uncontrollable orgasms at times that dont understand what it is all about. can at times feel less depressed but doesn't last long | F | 24 | 20 weeks 50mg | 7/16/2019 | 4 | For Bi- Poplar disorder. | So far no problem. I am taking Serequel in addition to Trileptal, Paxil, Klonopin and Trazzodone. I am feeling good. It may be helping with my IBS. It may be too early to tell if there are any side effects. | M | 64 | 3 days 50 mg | 7/7/2019 | 4 | For Bi- Poplar disorder. | So far no problem. I am taking Serequel in addition to Trileptal, Paxil, Klonopin and Trazzodone. I am feeling good. It may be helping with my IBS. It may be too early to tell if there are any side effects. | M | 64 | 3 days 50 mg | 7/7/2019 | 1 | Bipolar Disorder (misdiagnosed) | Huge weight gain, lethargy, dry mouth/trouble swallowing, confused and dizzy head, fatigue. | I would advise people to think twice and then think twice again before taking this drug. My experience on this was awful. The only positive thing I can find to say about it is that it was very good for my insomnia. This stuff literally knocked me out cold within 30 minutes of taking it. In fact, I used to sleep 12 hours or more every night and could barely function during the day as I was so groggy and spaced out. My weight ballooned and I was permanently exhausted. I can’t stress the weight gain enough. Before taking this drug I was a slim guy in great shape for his age. By the time I finished I looked like I was wearing a fat suit and was unrecognisable! It didn’t even work as an antipsychotic for me - I literally went nuts on this stuff and had one psychotic episode/delusion after another and nearly lost everything. I’ve been off it for around 3 years and am still suffering. I’ve lost all the weight, but I don’t feel well at all. If you suspect you have a mental health problem, seek out a therapist and not a doctor who hands out pills. That’s what I did after wasting 10 years of my life with mental health quacks and the difference was amazing. These drugs don’t belong in your body any more than cigarette smoke or recreational drugs do. | M | 46 | 4 years 1X day | 6/19/2019 | 1 | BPD II, Complex PTSD - ICD-11) | Awful side effects, debilitating. Extreme sedation alternating with racing thought induced insomnia, unbelievable lack of motivation, insatiable hunger, suicidal ideation, disturbingly realistic, vivid and frightening nightmares, uncontrollable weight gain (10lbs in 3weeks), exceptional irritability with extreme emotional outbursts. dysfunctional inducing, ‘make me want to die’ medication. Maybe give Niacin a try instead - I’ve been on Niacin for nearly 6 months and still improving, with none of the side effects of Seroquel, mirtazapine (Remeron), olanzapene, and Aripiprazole (Abilify - which I refer to as ‘Disabilify’ due to the serious debilitating side effects that I suffered after 8 weeks... ) and the side effects of several other atypical psychiatric medications. Seroquel and other similar drugs induced side effects far worse, in my opinion, than the manifestation of the psychiatric illnesses. | I take Niacin - 1500mcg x 3 per day concurrently with 500 mcg vitamin C. Niacin May produce elevated liver enzymes; check with your doctor. For more information See psychiatrist Abram Hoffer’s book “The truth about Niacin” available on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Niacin-Story-Wonderful-Healing-Properties/dp/1591202752). I combine the Niacin therapy with regular psychotherapy, CBT and additional psychiatric and family medicine care. In my opinion, The BigPharma companies have yet to figure out how to patent and make money with safe, effective, naturally occurring substances, like Niacin and other in-earth mineral, salt or metal substances; of which another is lithium (which does have weight gain and other long term side effects) I got past the “normal” intense flush of the niacin, which will most likely dissipate after several weeks anyway . I wonder how and if psychiatrists and enforcers would feel “functional, effective and capable” while taking the Seroquel: a most dysfunctional inducing medication for ANY length of time. Maybe talk to your dr about giving Niacin a try instead - I’ve been on Niacin for nearly 6 months and still improving, with none of the side effects of seroquel, mirtazapine, Aripiprazole - which I refer to as ‘Disabilify’ due to the serious debilitating side effects that I suffered during and after 8 weeks... Niacin ‘may’ produce elevated liver enzymes; check with your doctor | F | 53 | 3 weeks 100 1X day | 5/1/2019 | 5 | Bipolar I | Significant drowsiness* and weight gain, disorientation* starts after 10 minutes, blunted affect*, feelings of mild dissociation, and occasionally euphoria. Antipsychotics are notorious for for lowering or downright eliminating libido and causing other sexual dysfunctions. *reason 400mg is taken all at once just before bed | I submitted a review at the end of December 2013 and thought it would be helpful to be followup. Seroquel is an effective anti-manic med. but it’s also FDA approved for bipolar depression. I occasionally experience psychoses when severely stressed and sleep-deprived and Seroquel helps with those symptoms also. These brief psychotic responses are extremely upsetting so my doctor also prescribed PRN 25mg pills (up to 100 mg) to be taken when my thoughts become jumbled, racing or irrational (delusional) including suicide ideation. The 25 mg pills are the lowest dosage available and tiny enough for sublingual dosing when I deteriorate rapidly. Taking 25 mg starts to slow my thoughts and “dial-down” intense emotions which produces a deep calming affect. (I would not consider such a change to be “emotional blunting” (negative) under the circumstances. I will take a second, third and final dose until noticeable improvement. Seroquel is deeply sedating so driving can become dangerous. Seroquel is a powerful drug with considerable side effects and patients sometimes develop other health problems because of taking this drug. My goal (with my doctor’s consent) is to decrease my dosage to the lowest amount possible. Seroquel has been very effective in alleviating symptoms but I’ve never felt truly comfortable taking it. | F | 49 | 6 years 350-400 | 4/9/2019 | 3 | help with sleep | Was prescribe to me to help with sleep when stopping drugs. Does his job for sleeping. I haven't be able to stop it AND sleep more than 3 hours till 8 years. And I have tried ! The longest try was 3 weeks without it, I finally gave up because I only did improve my sleep from 2-3 hours to 3-4 hours I was too exausted at that stage. Took me months the go down to 6,25 mg and sleep enough. | I just learned here that stopping seroquel provokes insomnia. All doctors said to me seroquel has no withdrawal effect and all was in my head. | F | 44 | 8 years 12,5 mg 1X day | 12/28/2018 | 4 | Bipolar | I’ve had no side effects . | M | 59 | 8 years 100 MG | 11/18/2018 | 5 | Anxiety & Insomnia | Food cravings (manageable!) and initial morning grogginess. | I've found Seroquel to be the best drug so far to treat my anxiety and insomnia. I've tried 10+ antidepressants and have not been able to tolerate their side effects. I've also been able to stop benzos since commencing Seroquel and very rarely have the urge to have a Valium, and I somehow manage to beat the urge! Apart from food cravings on Seroquel (manageable!) and some initial morning grogginess, there's nothing much else to report. I'm very happy with the results! | M | 33 | 2 months 100 MG 1X day | 10/17/2018 | 1 | Depression | Neurological problems. Pain areas of FMS became severe. Lost feeling in hands and feet. A1C way in. | I'd never take another atypical antipsychotic again. | M | 57 | 3 months 30mg | 6/7/2018 | 1 | To help with sleep but I regret it | Constantly feel in a fog and now it's impossible to sleep without it. | I have tried to stop it and gabapentin but withdrawals are horrendous. Taking both for 12 yrs. | M | 61 | 12 days 400 mg | 4/7/2018 | 5 | Very severe insomnia | I have had no side effects at all | F | 68 | 11 years 50 mg | 3/31/2018 | 1 | Scizoaffective disorder | Weight gain, tremors, nightmares, trouble sleeping, paranoia, | They say this drug is good for lots of things but the things that I was put on it for are the very things that are bothering me the most now. I’m trying to get the doctors to get me off this medication | F | 44 | 3 years 300 mg | 3/31/2018 | 2 | To amplify the effects of sleep pil | Shortness of Breath Drastic weight gain, dizziness, blurred vision, possibly contributes to my high blood preasure. On its own, it has no effect on me whasoever, I could take panado and get more response. Combined with strong sleep medication, it works well. WEIGHT GAIN is dramatic | At 200MG I suffered dry mouth, little saliva, always thirsty, and rapid and unexpected weight gain within just 3 months. I want to stop using this but my mind convinces me that without it, my sleep medication will not work and my sleep pattern will be disturbed up to 5 times a night. I hope to increase my sleep medication the stop Seroquel just for a while to make sure I sleep through. How crazy is that - increase Dormicum 15mg x 2 per night to 45mg at night just to get off Seroquel. Whatever you do, consult a highly skilled and experienced psychiatrist in this drug and ask them to explain these effect before ever thinking it an option. I suffer for bi-polar, anxiety and depression and the best lesson in life is routines, schedules, work hard and sleep well. With good sleep and rest, I can manage my depression, anxiety is a devil on it's own and not so easy to manage. But I'm managing to remain in the main stream, be productive and soon will be off this drug. I should never have taken it to begin with. | M | 43 | 18 months 100 1X day | 3/30/2018 | 5 | Bipolar II Disorder | for the first week, I would have crying spells at night for no apparent reason | Seroquel was the first medication that allowed me to feel HAPPY. I had struggled with depression (now diagnosed Bipolar II) for four years before taking it and honestly didn't know what being happy felt like. I usually respond to medications quickly if they are effective for me and within three days I could function like I normal human being. | F | 20 | 7 months 50 1X day | 3/7/2018 | 3 | insomnia | Habituation, lost effectiveness | used to work wonders but quickly lost effectiveness after a few months. Then it would only make me feel weird or confused but not help sleeping or have its initial calming effects. | F | 28 | 3 months 25mg 1X day | 1/19/2018 | 1 | depression | horrible. wrecked my life. ruined my looks my physical health robbed me of family and friends....starting to ruin marrage. people treat me like I weirdo drug addict. i use to be beautuful successful and fun. Now ugly hiding out no emotions. Don't touch this drug. | F | 59 | 9 months | 1/13/2018 | 5 | PTSD/MDD/GAD/insomnia/panicdisorder | Very calming and sleep-inducing when taken at night. No real adverse effects for me. Sometimes I feel my emotions are a little stunted, but I was highly emotional before so it’s not necessarily bad. My anxiety is under control for the first time in years since my trauma, and it has allowed me to use less benzos as well. I use Seroquel in conjunction with Zoloft, Klonopin and Xanax (which I now use rarely because panic attacks are scarce thanks to Seroquel). I never thought I could live a semi-normal life again after my trauma but this drug brings me back down to earth. I do not feel sluggish or terrible during the day, just calm and not worrying about every little thing anymore. I can do my job more efficiently and have no problems thinking or feeling slow as others have reported. Please note that people are more likely to report bad results than good in anything (yelp, Glassdoor, etc.), and I think that’s the case for drugs as well. I don’t think the average score really reflects how people feel in a wider scale, because most people aren’t on here telling you the positives. | Seroquel saved my life... it was prescribed to me as an off-label insomnia treatment since no other sleep meds would work. I would often go a week without even a wink of sleep, be shaking uncontrollably throughout the day and night, have panic attacks constantly, would start my morning vomiting from stress, and couldn’t think straight. I finally feel normal again. | F | 28 | 8 months 100mg | 12/16/2017 | 1 | insomnia | severe dizziness upon waking, trouble thinking. muscle weakness | i have been having horrible issues with poor sleep after stopping zoloft and zyprexa in 2014 after 14 years on the drugs. Decided to try Seroquel 75 mg for sleep. i slept 6 hours and woke up feeling as if i had been laid out cold and had a severe concussion. I was stumbling into walls walking down the hall and it took me several minutes of staring at the stove to figure out how to make coffee. my eyes were rolling around like a cartoon character who takes a blow to the head and it took a half hour until i could see straight/ i felt physically weak the entire next day. pills found their way into the trash. i need sleep, but i also need my brains. | M | 45 | 1 days 1X day | 12/16/2017 | 1 | depression severe anxiety insomnia | grogy lithagic, gained 30lbs, couldn't remember name,s words etc zombie like the next day, would catch myself not inhaling or exhaling (too relaxed), I still have blurry eyesight occasionally, had hard time reading other peoples experiences with this deadly drug. | I started to feel like my organs were shutting down and I was swelling up. Developed a mass on my adrenal gland luckily my cortisol and hormone levels were normal. They thought I had hypothyroidism and developed nodules on my thyroid luckily no cancer and no hypothyroidim.. I now have to have both checked every 6mos to a year to make sure mass and nodules don't get to 4cc or they will have to operate. I was so knocked out at night didn't realize I was having acid reflux developed 8ccm hiatal hernia with a rare Cameron bleeding ulcer. Lost half my red blood cells 5 count (11 is normal)) had three blood transfusions and was in the hospital for a week I was acute critical and was severly anemic had to take large dosage of iron got my red blood cell count to 10. I am having sergury Monday for hiatal hernia repair and hopefully the Cameron ulcer will get better. I quit taking seroquel cold turkey the first night off of it my mind was racing and couldn't sleep at all sounded like hundreds of voices were talking at once it was horrible. Eventually after 3days I could sleep waking up about every 2 or 3 hrs. My doctor said that I was not suppose to go off it cold turkey and I was lucky I didn't have seizures. Besides side effects listed above I feel much better since I quit that deadly drug. My pysch was angry I went off Seroquel and told me that this will not end well????? Well she was wrong it has ended well , she prescribed me ambien 10mg and I sleep at night and wake up ref | F | 61 | 2 years 300 mg 1X day | 12/6/2017 |
