3  Clinical depression & anxiety Itching, slight nausea, headaches and dizziness I started Brintellix after a non-responsive treatment on lexapro, After 1 week I was feeling extremely overwhelmed by things that wouldn't usually phase me, very depressed and anxious. In week two I was feeling so down I resorted to drinking (which I hadn't done in months) and self harmed whilst hysterically crying all night, this was the lowest point I had felt on the medication. Coming into week three i'm feeling extremely optimistic about life, I have more energy and am able to focus well on work. I read ample reviews on this drug when I first started this medication and spent hours on this site tossing up if it were the right thing for me. I think sticking through the rough patch was the best thing I did.. It's still early days but after time things are becoming clear again and i'm starting to feel as though i'm not stuck in a hole with no way out. Fingers crossed it stays this way and everyone else has a similar experience going forward! F 22 3 weeks

5  Major Depressive Disorder,Panic atk Slight nausea the first week, other than that none! This drug has given me back my life. I have tried Zoloft, Prozac, Lexapro, Celexa, and Cymbalta. Cymbalta worked well, but made my heart rate and BP go dangerously high. I was taken off of it after 2 years, and was started on Trintellix. I haven't felt this good in a long time. I'm leaving my house more, reconnecting with old friends that I thought I lost due to depression. My panic attacks are helped with this drug and klonopin 1 mg. i'm so thankful for trintellix, it's made me feel like me for the first time in a long time! M 30 1 months

1  Mild Depression/Fibromyalgia Stiff neck like I never had before in my life. So bad I could hardly move my head. Spread down to my shoulders, then down to my arms. I could barely move. So painful, I was in tears. As I have never had this happen before and no medication changes other than the Brintellix (Trintellix in the States), I can only attribute it to that medication. Got off of it immediately but it's taken me so time to get back to normal. Gradually, very gradually, the pain in my neck and shoulders has lessened. I think had I stayed on this med, something dire would have happened. Can't recommend it at all. Worked for a little while and then got horrible. My doctor switched me to Lexapro. Is better. In addition to the horrible pain in my shoulders, neck and upper arms I was also losing my hair. After I stopped taking Trintellix, hair grew back. This stuff is poison. F 70 30 days

3  Depression i have struggled with depression for most of my life, and am always in search of the perfect antidepressant. I work with a psych doctor who is always willing to try new things. 10 months ago I started 5 mg of Brintellix daily, within a week my mood was significantly elevated, I was sleeping better, waking up much earlier and was more motivated to do things in the morning. I went up to 10mg daily However the nausea was dreadful! I pushed through for a couple of weeks, changed to taking the brintellix at night and after a while it subsided. My mood got better and better, I had recently turned 50, and had gained a little weight, so with my new found morning energy I started working out 2times a week with a trainer, and then walking most other mornings! The walking then changed gradually to running, and after 6-7 months I was running 3-4 miles a few times a week and going to the gym twice a week. I was loving life, getting really into good shape and felt better than I had in years! ThenI I started getting pain in my shoulders and neck, went for PT but no help, the pain would move from shoulder to neck and down my traps, always changing. Next I got foot pain, my doc said Plantar Fasciatis, then extremely stiff muscles especially in the mornings. I stretched and stretched but to no avail, the foot pain intermittently turned to numbness and tingling in my lower legs, I started backing off on exercise, but no change, I have been to a rheumatologist and infectious disease specialist but they found nothing.Currently undergoing tests for diabetes MS & other neuro disorders, neurologist wants to blame my depression, or hormonal imbalance. Funny thing is I wasn't at all depressed when this started 3 months ago! now I am not able to even take a ten minute walk without some kind of pain. I tapered off Brintellix because I am terrified it's that, but of course I now have terrible depression and anxiety. I am starting cymbalta for depression today. My question is for anyone who has been on Brintellix did you start experiencing any of these problems after being on it for at least 6 months or more? Shoulder pain, joint pain, muscle cramping and stiffness, bottom of foot pain, numbness, coldness and tingling in feet and legs below knees, dreadfully stiff neck and neck pain. All of these symptoms change daily for me, they are intermittent, but there is never a time now when I am pain free or not stiff. I have been off Brintellix for 3 weeks now. F 50 10 months

5  anxiety, depression I had been on Sertraline for 2 years @ 50 MG, noticing nothing good, still down, spending all my free time in my room, not doing anything, didn't want to go out....started on 5 mg once per day, was still waking up in tears but the 3rd day i was on it I noticed a huge difference in my behavior and my attitude. I felt like I had gotten myself back after 6 years of depression and horrible sadness....because of waking in tears tho, i went to 10 mg and the nausea and dizziness hit me. Called the doctor and he prescribed a good anti-nausea with the warning that i could not continue if the nausea did not go away, as he would not co prescribe an anti nausea long term. At that point i decided to try 10 mg at night and it worked somewhat better, less nausea, less dizziness. So i tried 5 mg before bed with a small snack and 5 mg on arising with a small breakfast, even a few crackers, and i have been doing this for 6 weeks now, i am out in the world again! I am out walking, i have lost wei F 55 3 months

2  Depression and to increase energy Dry eyes, eye pain, redness in and around the eyes, nausea, upset stomach, hand clenching, joint and muscle soreness. I started at 10MG and quickly realized the dose was too high. I felt awful all over. I then read dozens of Trintellix reviews on several different websites. A majority of the reviews were favorable so I tried to push through the side effect. I tapered the dosage down to less the 1 MG/day, even this low dose caused all the listed side effects. I was hoping this drug would work for me like it did for the majority of patients who highly rated it. Maybe you'll have better luck then I did. Good luck. M 65 90 days

1  Moderate Depression Extreme nausea, committing. After attempting to cope with extreme nausea and vomiting for 5 months, March of this year I checked myself into the hospital to have them run some tests. CT scan showed an 8.3 cm abdominal aortic aneurysm ready to burst! An 8 hour AAA repair surgery was performed. August of this year [2016] I resumed Brintellix only to find the same extreme nausea and vomiting had returned, with no relief. Under advice of my primary care physician, we agreed I would stop the treatment. In less than one week, the nausea and vomiting stopped and to date, has never returned. The people who are manufacturing and promoting this product need to be held civilly and criminally accountable! If anyone reading this hears of a class-action lawsuit in the works, please let me know! There is NO DOUBT in my mind this drug is having extremely adverse effects on people. Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information and please, stay away from this drug! F 60 1 years

5  depression I didn't really notice any side effects when I started taking it, aside from a little weight gain. It was around the holidays so I can't say for certain it was the medication. This has been my wonder drug! After many unsuccessful rounds of other medications, this is the one that made me feel like myself again. It literally saved my life! F 42 1 years

5  Mild Depression/Fibromyalgia In the beginning, nausea, upset stomach, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting. Then, after about a month, the nausea stopped. I have to say that my stomach is still 'touchy,' but then it always was. I also take Klonopin. I took the herb fennel (also available as tea) to counter the nausea, and it helped. I also made sure I took Trintellix with food. That also helped. Now I can take it without food although I still have a problem with constipatiion - but with the Klonopin and the Iron I have to take, I don't know how much blame I can put on Trintellix. All I can say is PUSH THROUGH the nausea/vomiting and stomach problems. I have felt so much better since I've been on Trintellix. I hope it keeps working. Another wonderful thing happend - I have NO MORE FIBRO PAIN much to my surprise!! I can't say that Trintellix has made me sing and dance, but it has helped me stabilize and now I feel like I used to when I was younger. Gave me a slight boost in energy and I really enjoy that, but the most important thing for me was the loss of the Fibromyalgia pain!! I feel 'normal' for the first time in many, many years. PUSH THROUGH. The side-effects will go away and I think you may enjoy feeling better - I know I do!! F 69 4 months

3  depression and anxiety Inability to fall asleep at night, often want a nap during the day After a year on the drug at 10 mg, I found it less helpful in controlling my anxiety and depression. I then tried 20 mg, and the increased dosage made my mood worse. I have also been recently diagnosed with probable seizures, so I have been told by my doctor to wean off of the brintellix and we will try option #566. Just kidding, but it seems that nothing works for me for very long. I liked this drug for a while, but its effectiveness is wearing off, and it is SO EXPENSIVE. F 62 13 months

5  Anxiety, minor depression Some nausea, but nothing extremely bothersome. I felt euphoria for the first month on the medication (which is a positive side effect so I can't really complain). I have suffered from anxiety on and off for years. I got to a point where I had to go on medication because it was not resolving with non-pharmaceutical interventions. I tried Zoloft and it turned me into a zombie. I slept all the time, had no drive or energy for anything, nothing seemed appealing anymore. I slipped into depression because of the medication. I started taking 10mg of Brintellix and within days I felt better. Within a few weeks I was smiling more, laughing, and my anxiety was GONE. I was so relieved and shocked. I had a lot of energy, my mood was enhanced (almost euphoric at times which felt great!) and overall I was able to work my job better, leave my apartment and actually do things and enjoy doing them. This medication has worked wonders for me. By far the best medication I have tried throughout my years going on and off SSRI's. I highly recommend trying this medication if you suffer from anxiety and severe fatigue. I also take 0.5 xanax every night and between the two - things have gotten so much better for me.  4  Depression None I started taking this because I was in a medium stage of depression. alot of things would make me cry for no reason, sleeping was a bit poor and was tired a majority of the time. Everything that makes the cycle of depression continue! thankfully I didn't experience any side effects. But i noticed within the first few days, I was less sad, falling asleep was much better (and I don't wake up groggy). Energy level was up big time, which helped me to go to the gym more to help with the depression as well. Overall, I recommend this drug. F 42 60 days

3  Acute Depression Week 2 significant nausea. Week 3 increased nausea. Week 4 Reduced to 5mg. THIS MORNING AWFUL VOMITING, "DRY HEAVING," CURRENTLY LYING IN A PUBLIC RESTROOM SHAKING PUPILS HUGE SKIN DRY AND COLD CAN'T STOP VOMITING/DRY HEAVING... I kept taking it because I really thought it was working after 2nd week! Woke up one day and realized I had not been crying and unable to make basic decisions! Not feeling cognitively paralyzed. Actually moving through the day and accomplishing 1-3 small goals. I was told to "stay the course" re nausea until I got used to the medication but this morning had to RUN to public restroom because I actually began vomiting and dry-heaving. Awful! Throwing it away TODAY!! M 49 4 weeks
