1  Depression Suicidal thoughts, extreme fatigue I have taken brintellix for 3 months when the psychiatrist said I should take it a bit longer to see if there is improvement. The one thing it helped with is that I didn't have sexual difficulties anymore. However I just felt so extremely tired, anxious and to be honest dead. I started getting anxious and he also put me on zytomil 5mg a day. I also have suicidal thoughts a lot nowadays. My dreams are also very disturbing at times. F 30 12 months

1  Depression Overpriced and full of red tape. Incredibly difficult to acquire from the pharmacy. I had to go THREE times for the same issue, which was my doctor needed to approve it (well of course they approve it, THEY sent the prescription), just to get the drug. Their discount card didn't work, even though I activated it, so expect to pay a high price for this drug unless your insurance is fantastic and you activate their discount program before your pharmacy FILLS out your script.  5  MDD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder This drug is a game changer for me. I’ve tried Prozac, Celexa, Zoloft, Cymbalta, and Wellbutrin. I am currently taking 10 mg of Trintellix and 300 mg of Wellbutrin daily. The most prominent side-effect I’ve noticed is itching, which can sometimes be severe. I take hydroxyzine pamoate 10 mg up to three times daily PRN to offset the itching and it seems to help. I’ve also noticed slight nausea, but it passes rather quickly. I cannot say enough about how different this medication has been for me. It started working within the first few days (although that is not an expected or common experience). I have had no weight gain or sexual side-effects and my sleep patterns have improved greatly. I know this is not for everyone. My psychiatrist suggested it as a result of genetic testing, which indicated this would be the best choice. If you have been struggling to find the right medication, I would ask about genetic testing. If I had this 20 years ago, it might have saved me a lot of aggravation. M 48 30 days

4  GAD, mild depression Upset stomach some days (a feeling a bit like hunger, though I take with dinner), headaches and fever for a few days when increasing dosage, anorgasmia (taking with Buspar resolved this). Works much better for me than Zoloft, Cymbalta, Wellbutrin, Remeron. Weight neutral. Only antidepressant I have been able to stick with. Doesn't make me drowsy and curbs anxiety. F 45 4 months

1  Depression Felt like a miracle drug first month then literally almost cost my life. Absolutely unable to sleep or choke food down, became angry and obsessive, confused (I am a journalist for decades) and ultimately bedridden and skeletal as I segued back to the Prozac I had been on long-term. Now tapering off that and four other "brain" meds. Powerful, dangerous drugs that literally are unregulated. Read the package inserts, ck trusted media reports: No one has a clue how they actually work (serotonin theory just a theory by drug makers) but they do affect most body systems and functions with potentially devastating effects.  1  Anxiety & MDD Nausea, vomiting, panic attacks, agitation, vivid dreams, breathing difficulties. My Psychiatrist's rational was that Brintellix would be worth trying as a "novel SSRI" to treat my MDD, as the SNRI Cymbalta (duloxatine 60mg) seemed to have become ineffective after 5 years. We first tried upping the Cymbalta dose to 90mg (nothing), then 120mg -- this caused low-level serotonin syndrome and 2 weeks of either barely tolerable anxiety or worsening depression, again ...hopeless and desperate. A new problem has emerged - now constant anxiety and frequent, debilatating panic attacks. Brintellix seemed to offer some hope: approved for GAD (?) and apparently is as good an AD as Cymbalta was for me initially, with only "negligible side effects". Brintellix was none of that. It was just intolerable crap. Three weeks of this rubbish is all I will ever experience. I am back on Cymbalta for now and will be exploring better options for treating anxiety. My doctor is an otherwise decent bloke who, for some reason, seems married to SSRI's/SNRI's! Incredibly frustrating. Given the hysteria surrounding Benzodiazepines (at least here in Australia), I'm probably going to have find a non-benzodiazepine anxiolitic...I have 7.5mg's of Zopiclone (like Lunesta in the US) for insomnia - apparently this Z drug is basically a Benzo...the Devil in a pill 👹 and the ONLY drug doing *anything* helpful for me right now. I will probably get pulled off it eventually, due to its negative profile. Arrrgggghhhhh! M 50 22 days

5   Is doing profound things that only Parnate has done in the past - and I've tried them all - reset my circadian rhythms, I am much more cheerful, outgoing, less social anxiety, brighter affect. But not helping with other forms of anxiety, and I am taking a very high dose. I was wondering if people take >20 mg/daily or if I am hurting myself by doing so? Perhaps they are in Europe, or here, but it doesn't get talked about much? I am trying to find out if Trintellix is getting used at daily dosages >20 mg/day. I am at 40, getting results, would like to go up even higher unless this would be dangerous, i.e., liver/kidney trouble or the God-blessed SEROTONIN SYNDROME. Does anyone have research-based info - not their own curbside opinions? THANKS :) M 47 2 weeks

4  Major Depression and anxiety The version I take is called Trintellix. My psychiatrist started me at 2.5 mg a day and she increased it by 2.5 mg every 2 weeks. I felt a little nauseous at first, but I was able to take it with minimal discomfort because she was so careful with me. I have noticed that I can't cry, but I experience joy without a problem. No sexual side effects like with ssris. I have tried just about all the ssris and snris out there since I was first put on psych meds in 1999. They seemed to work for a while then I start getting depressed again. The snris, especially pristiq, made my anxiety unbearable. Ive tried combinations too, like pairing an antidepressant with an atypical antipsychotic or wellbutrin. I even tried tricyclic antidepressants, but weight gain was horrible. The combo I'm on now is trintellix, lyrica, bc pills, and seroquel daily with propanolol and vistaril as needed for anxiety. It seems to be working so far. I'm also seeing a therapist weekly. She's extremely helpful. F 38 2 months

3  Depression and Anxiety High blood pressure. My BP went from normal (115/74) to high (168/84) while I was taking Brintellix. When I first took Brintellix it worked great. My mood was really good, no side effects except a little itching. Then almost overnight (about 2-3 months after I started) I was having suicidal thoughts, I was very tired all the time, and my blood pressure shot up. F 63 5 months
