| 4 | Endometriosis | I'm currently receiving an injection of 11.25 mg of Lupron Depot every 3 months. The pain I was having due to my Endometriosis has gone away completely, however, I am experiencing a lot of hot flashes and mood swings. I also lost 8 lbs in a matter of 3 months which does concern me as I'm only 5'3" and now weigh 104lbs. | I just started a new medication to help with the hot flashes. Everyone is different and the negativity about this medication made me leery at first. The only thing I have negative to say is the hot flashes can be HORRIBLE at times (but I learned to dress in layers and wear light clothing), but I'm willing to take them over the pain. If you're considering Lupron Depot, just remember that everyone is different and your side effects could be minimal like mine.... it's worth a shot! Did a three month course of Depo Lupron. Immediately after went on Yasmin. Since then I take three months of active pills before having a period. This in theory is to prevent the endo from having a chance to come back. I am 26 now, have no recurring problems, have been scoped again for endo, and they found nothing. However, my side effects have been very manageable (though the weight gain is a bit maddening) in comparison to the pain I was in with my endo. I had surgery and was hospitalized with a post-op infection two weeks after my surgery, but other than that, it has worked very well for me. Everyone needs to remember that medications affect everyone differently, so don't dismiss something simply because others have had a bad reaction. I was TERRIFIED to start this shot because I don't have the best health, but I'm glad I did. I just need to try and remain positive about my future now. Since then I have had 2 major migraines, one ending me up in the ER. I had never had a migraine before. I am on the 6 month treatment and I'm not sure I can make my self go back next month. Hot flashes aren't bad, funny for my 26 year old body that's always cold to experience. Emotions weren't too bad, what I noticed most was that I started getting a short temper, which is not like me. | My doctor recommended Lurpon in hopes that it would stop my heavy bleeding (which it did) and shrink my very larger fibroid that was crushing my right fallopian tube, my bladder and growing into the endometrial cavity and other ways. I was told I pretty much had 3 diff types of fibroid in 1 and that it was a little bigger than grapefruit size. I had 4 shots 1x month for 4 months. After reading a lot of comments on here...I thank god that I didn't have that bad of side effects (and am sorry for those that did and had to go through that crap). The side effect that I had the worst was the night sweats and now being that my last shot of Lupron was 2-18-13 I'm not having any side effects except for sometimes light night sweats and I now have an acne break out on my bottom/upper thighs. Not sure if the break out is from the Lurpon or sweat, but the sweating is from the Lupron so I guess technically it is. Anyways, as I said I did not suffer from the side effects too bad, but I don't know about recommending this medicine? I chose to trust my doctor and if it did shrink the fibroid that would make the myomectomy easier and less risk of possible hyst or loss of tube. Overall...my fibroid did NOT shrink at all, but oh well. Fortunately my doctor was able to remove fibroid and keep everything else in tact and after healing should be able to have children! | F | 26 | 4 months 1X M | 4/6/2013 | 3 | Severe Endo, Heavy bleeding | My lower back hurt some, not sure if I can say that is from the shot! | I read all the post's and was not going to take this shot at all after reading all the horrible experiences others have had from this shot. Nothing Asprin did not help so far! | I have only had one shot on the first of August! I have had some aches in my lower back, hips and legs but asprin at this point has helped me! I am not taking the add back therapy I am actually taking Yaz the birth control pill with as my GYNO says it helps better with the side effects! Other than the Severe Anemia and the very irregular periods I had no pain. My OBGYN stated I will bleed to death because of the Anemia if I do not do something about the issue. I am now to go on lupron dupot for 6 months and then if that does not help with the severe endo I have to have a hysterectomy! I lived on pain killers for two years before I realized this was not a way of life. I have had surgery every year since I was 18, I am now almost 25. I started Lupron successfully at first. At almost one year, i had developed yet another huge cyst on my ovary and my endo. was out of control. My doctor and i decided Lupron did not help me, so I stopped the treatments. Now, almost a year later, my normal periods have returned. I still have pain, but now I suffer from PMS symptoms when I never had before. I have hot flashes still, i am highly emotional, my memory is not sharp, and i feel that my hormones are "out of whack". All of this i attribute to Lupron. Although my pain has dissapted somewhat, I do not feel that this drug was right for me. I know that it has worked for others and I am happy for those people. I took lupron for 6 months almost 4 years ago when I was 22. I am now 26 and have no sex drive whatsoever, and it's killing my boyfriend. I have no desire anymore at all. I wish I would have been given other options, or I wish I would have reseached this drug more. I am sitting here crying reading some of the comments because they are all what I feel. Also, my anger has increased since taking the shots. I seem to fly off the handle over little things now, and it seems to be getting worse. My legs and ankles ache all the time now, and I'm not sure if it's from the lupron or not, but I read other people have aching joints as well. Please, if you're told you have to take this, ask tons of questions, and see if there are other options you can try! Good luck to those of you who are taking it. At first I was all for feeling better but I'm regretting ever letting that needle touch my skin. I started lupron after the birth of my second child. I had tried 17 different birth controls that could possibly help or hinder the pain from the endometriosis the one that did help got recalled. I figured wth might as well give it a try. Worst mistake ever! The doctor did not give me a pamphlet just told me of the hot flashes. The first week the hot flashes came and went all day every day. I then started feeling dizzy and faint. My energy was gone. By week 6 I started having signs of a uti so got azo and prescribed meds little did I know it wasn't a uti it was a side effect. My kidneys began to hurt. It hurt to breath it felt as though I had an elephant sitting on my lungs.Then my whole body started to weaken to the point I couldn't open a jar that had previously been opened. My muscles and bones ached it hurt with every little movement. My body then began to swell(this side effect is still with me it's been several months since I've had my last dse) my ankles swell the second I put them on the floor each mornings the rest of the body parts soon follow. I had lost all interest in sexual activity.I soon got depressed I felt worthless couldn't even play with my kids. My marriage got rocky bc of how I felt.
