Having seen a nurse practitioner twice in my clinic for this issue, they didn't pick up that this could be a side effect of the medication. She prescribed Macrobid; a mild UTI prior to my surgery in October was cleared with Bactrim (some side effects but tolerable for 3 days). Side effects began immediately and it is of great concern that more possible side effects appeared right after I stopped taking Macrobid (did not have a UTI and PCP put this drug on the do-not-use list after I reported side effects). The chest pain is very strange - it is intermittent and starts right at the center breastbone and moves to the left towards my armpit. Orthopedic surgeon not too concerned about it being something serious ( e.g., PE or heart). I would not use Macrobid again.
