The reason they don't use this drug much anymore is because it has a TON of known side effects. DAY ONE: After taking 1 pill, I experienced rash and sunburned patches that spread down the entire insides of my arns. The rash felt hot, itchy and painful all at the same time. I reported my symptoms to my pharmacist and doctor immediately. They both said it was an allergic reaction (as I knew), BUT my doctor recommended taking 2 Benadryl capsules allong with it, and to try to "tough it out". Since I am allergic (anaphylaxix) to several other antibiotics, his reasoning was that I had few choices remaining that would be useful against a broad spectrum of infectious agents.
