| 3 | Shingles Vaccine | The shot hurt, but I felt okay for the first 24 hours. Then, my joints ached so badly, I had to stop work and rest. Tylenol and Aleve did nothing to help. Three days later, my arm is hot, swollen, and has a line of red rash. This is the second shot—it’s worse than the first (had swollen arm, but no rash). The main side effect I've had has been a persistent and chronic upper arm and shoulder pain that has lasted for over TWO MONTHS now! The pain is always much worse at night. The pain for a few days is what is commonly listed, but months later? Had I known I would be this sick just from getting the vaccination, I would have done a bit of research before saying yes. I will not be getting the second shot and will take my chances and hope that just the one shot works to prevent me from getting shingles. Within 8 hours I had flu like symptoms with body ache & pains, lethargy, and diarrhea. This vaccine does have side effects that limit one’s activities for a few days. However, I still recommend that those over 50 get it. In the long run a few days of discomfort is worth prevention of the very painful shingles virus. | Administered inter muscular by pharmacist both times.
