4  Shingles Vaccine I received the flu vaccine the same day as Shingrix. The second day I had a headache, low grade fever, body aches, and queasiness. My arm still hurts pretty badly on the third day. It was administered by the pharmacist at my local pharmacy. F 54

4  Shingles prevention I received my FIRST Shingrix dose @ 2:00pm on Aug. 25, 2020 (along with Pneumonia booster vaccine). About 8 hours later I experienced slight nausea/headache, EXTREME shivers, sweating, general achiness, and fever. I slept horribly (on/off) that night…the slightest air movement anywhere on my body sent me into a spasmolytic shiver that took minutes to subside. I awoke about 8 hours later with fever (101.7 f), brain fog, achiness, headache, sore shoulder (point of entry) but chills subsided for the most part. It was difficult to nap, but eventually I did, and by the mid-afternoon I felt much, much better; fever broke, slight headache, some brain-fog lifted, and no need for any meds. I felt more like myself later that night, and nearly 100% the next day (approximately 42 hours since receiving the first dose) but it took about 3 days for the soreness in my deltoid to dissipate. I received the SECOND Shingrix dose approximately 3 months later on 10/29/20 @ 3:30pm. I decided to take meds before/after this second Shingrix dose as suggested by other reviewers; 400mg ibuprofen a half hour before (3:00pm), 500mg Tylenol doses at 7:30pm, 10:00pm, and 1:30am (bottle said full dose was 1000mg, or two pills). I experienced a slight headache and almost imperceptible chill around 7:30pm with slight malaise and soreness at injection site. I couldn’t believe how late I stayed up without any additional symptoms as I was waiting “any minute now” for the onset of what I I can’t really quantify my satisfaction with this med because I have no idea how/whether its helping, but I went with Shingrix instead of the other single-dose vaccine based on my review of articles (and most importantly, my MD’s recommendation; she’s the BEST!). I’m satisfied to the extent that I think I’m out of the woods with respect to side effects. I WAS APPREHENSIVE ABOUT TAKING THE SECOND DOSE, and stumbled upon this site to muster some courage going forward with the second dose. It really freaked me out all week! But I concluded that the side effects from the second dose couldn’t be any worse; and considered the possibility that maybe there would be little-to-no side effects. I cannot believe that some folks expressed they would NOT take the second Shingrix dose…c’mon, you’re halfway there! Everyone I’ve spoken to who has had Shingles greatly regretted it. The complications, intensity/duration/frequency of shingles-related symptoms/problems IS NOT WORTH NOT FOLLOWING UP ON YOUR SECOND DOSE! Any rational person will conclude that the symptoms of shingles far outweighs any discomforting side effects of two Shingrix vaccine doses. Final thought: there are probably way more people who had no side effects whatsoever, and they’re the ones NOT providing feedback on this site. So, keep that in mind when reading through the pages of reviews. M 56

4  Shingles Vaccine Feel like I have the worst case of the flu ever. First dose put me in bed for 3 days. I am expecting the second injection to be the same. Completely achy all over, fever, chills, injection arm to painful to lift, can barely roll out of bed. Still don't want shingles so I put up with side effects. F 50

3  Shingles Vaccine I had the vaccination two days ago at cvs. At first there was no pain. Then I started getting pain on the arm I had the shot. By the next morning, I was in terrible pain all over my body. I was also absolutely freezing. I had to put the thermostat to 78°! I spent most of the day in bed. I felt so sick! Now I feel better but I'm definitely not 100%. My throat still hurts a little and I feel extremely tired. And I still have a lot of bodyaches. But I have a family member who recently got shingles, so I don't regret getting it. I got the shingles vaccination at the same time I got a flu shot. I'm not sure if that made a difference. However, I've been getting the flu shot for years, and I've never had any side effects except for a little pain. F 51

2  Shingles prevention First injection made my 8-year dormant herpes flare up terribly. The second exacerbated my Fibromyalgia which had been under control. I caution anyone with Fibromyalgia, herpes, or autoimmune disease, about this medication. While I understand shingles can be horribly painful, so can the conditions it exacerbates. F 62

2  Shingles Vaccine Pain at injection site Swelling.... not severe, but quite painful Fatigue x a million. I'm a normally get up and make it happen girl. I've slept on and off for 2 days! Dreading the 2nd dose. Nauseous. Major gag reflex going on. Ugh. Local pharmacy. Upper left arm. Hurt! Much more "stinging" than a flu shot. F 56

4  Shingles Vaccine Day after vaccine it felt like someone had punched me in the arm. Mild headache. Took ibuprofen; it helped. F 51

3  Shingles Vaccine First day no symptoms, first night unable to sleep, fatigue, muscle aches, fever, chills. Second day woke up with fever 100.8 and nauseous, and third day after sleeping 16 on and off hours, noticed a pimple by my eye. Only 1, but scary as a side effect. Carefully washed and cleaned area. Fever gone. Muscles are less achy. Have tinnitus since first shot and not sure if it's related. Curious if that's a side effect? Doctors office, I wouldn't use a pharmacy. 54

3  Shingles Vaccine I received my first Shingrix along with a Tetanus booster (different arms) and both arms were quite sore with a heavy feeling. The next morning, I awoke to a full headache (ibuprofen) & nausea, which subsided. The next 2 days, the arm pain and headache persisted. On the fourth and fifth days, I developed 3 areas of pustules that were raised, itchy, burning, and very sensitive to touch. It is now day 6, and all symptoms are better, but pustules are still here. Administered 10/23/20 in doctor's office at the same time as Tetanus booster F 63

2  Shingles Vaccine After 2nd shot, I woke up around midnight shivering. Put a heating pad under me but couldn't get warm. Joints ached, headache. I was actually crying. Lasted all night. Slept most of the following day. Off and on sweating then chills. Arm pain severe. Much worse reaction than 1st shot. F 65

1  Shingles Vaccine First dose no problem, just a sore arm. Three months later 2nd dose of vaccine at doctor's office about 3pm. Felt fine except for large itchy round rash at injection site. Then woke at 3am shivering and freezing with low grade temp of 99.4. Next day terrible body aches and fever of 100.8. Alternated with Tylenol and ibuprofen. I was very relieved the symptoms only lasted a day and a half. Definitely the worst reaction to any vaccine I ever had. Upper arm injection by skilled nurse. F 59

2  Shingles Vaccine Received first injection 10-27-20 at 1pm. By 8p that night, experienced really sore arm, general malaise and chills. No fever first day, but felt out of sorts, pins and needles feeling, chills and achy next day. Fever second night 100.8, chills and malaise. The immune response. definitely makes you feel generally ill and achy for a few days. M 53

4  Shingles Vaccine Flu-like symptoms didn’t start until 1 week later. My arm soreness had resolved but came back strong last night with low fever (100.3), chills, body aches, headache, fatigue. 10/17/2020 at Fry’s pharmacy. Upper right arm. No pain upon administration but soreness later that day and the next 4 days. F 65

2  Shingles Vaccine Five hours after vaccine chills, feeling feverish next morning with chills, tinnitus, difficulty concentrating, feeling generally ill. Would not have gotten the second dose if I knew how bad it would feel. Almost 5 days out Administered at Walgreen by pharmacist in upper left arm. Did not advise about bad side effects F 68

1  Shingles Vaccine Received vaccine at Walgreens along with flu shot on 10/17/2020. Pain from injection but faded quickly. Flu symptoms started that night; fever, chills, aches, fatigue. Next morning felt better but symptoms returned that evening and the following evening. Burning in left arm and breast on 2nd night, lasted @ an hour. Rash appeared on 3rd day and has lasted more than a week now. Hoping it does not leave scarring. I had shingles about 12 years ago and it was not as painful as this vaccine for me. I don't think I will get the second shot. Walgreens gave me paperwork to read but I did not get any verbal warnings about possible effects. My fault for not researching, but I have never had reactions to any medicine. I am not on any meds and I am not allergic to anything. I didn't anticipate any problems and did not do my homework. F 56
