Once I did I felt ok and at first it seemed like a miracle pill for PCOS. My back and chin acne cleared up, I grew more hair on my head and less on my body, no longer had water retention. After a couple of months I noticed myself having heart palps. When I started working out again my heart was jumping up to 216bpm and while doing something so simple such as putting shoes on I would get a heart palp. I talked to my doctor and he assumed it's because I gained weight and was out of shape but sent me to a cardiologist as a precaution. After wearing a holter, doing an echocardiogram and stress test it was determined my heart is strong and in good shape. They chalked it up to anxiety. The palps continued to get worse despite me eating more healthy, hydrating and getting more in shape. I had this moment where I realized it's possibly the Spironolactone. As soon as I stopped it within 2 days my resting heart rate went down by like 30 bpm. It doesn't end there. I tried stopping abruptly as the pharmacist said it was ok as it's just 25mg, I got super sick. So dizzy I couldn't walk or drive. I was immediately put back on it by an emergency after hours doc who had me cut the dose to 12.5mg and now I'm down to half of that. I can hardly wait to get off it completely. Let me preface this by saying I've tried this medication twice and stopped taking it the first time due to a loss of my period which caused other issues. The second time I stuck with it. For that--then I lost my period for months and looked pregnant. | Do NOT drink with the med and if you do limit your alcohol consumption. I ended up with no tolerance to alcohol. But im going to take a two week break first. Take this pill with caution and ask your doctor to put you on a very low dosage first.
