Two days after starting, felt slight itching of penis but wasn't worried. This turned into extremely painful blistering that then became skin peeling, dark red rashes. Stopped Bactrim right away, primary doc confirmed reaction and switched to doxycycline. I'm 3 days out having stopped and things are starting to heal but still very red and raw and painful from the blisters and peeling skin. | I will make sure to never take nor recommend this drug to anyone. I am absolutely blown away how many horrible reactions people are having. I was given this after macrobin didn't work for my uti, I was perfectly fine, until 1 hour after the 2nd dose and all her broke loose! I literally was peeing every 15-20 mins! I'm 48 hours since last dose and pharmacist said it'll take one more day for it to be out of my system.. right now I have weird body aches .. my left leg from knee down was throbbing so bad .. leg aches .. arm aches and breast… stomach cramps.. ear ache …headache hear and there .. dry lips.. I can never sleep at night since I took this.I toss and turn . anxious because of all the symptoms and wishing I didn't start it - if it wasn't for the 2nd dr telling me to stop I think it would've been worse .. Continued taking it, then the left side of my chest started pinching and I was waking up to gush pee every hour or so, with night sweats so intense I had to change four shirts one night. I went to walk in clinic because it became severe and along with headache on temple, still UTI symptoms and now a weird full feeling and middle right back throbbing, I couldn't describe well enough to warrant Dr concern. They did EKG and heart all normal, dude said to keep dealing with it, its probably menopause. I was glad no heart issues and to get out of there but upon getting home the inability to pee got worse, then black tarry stool: “oh my first symptom listed on the paperwork” I thought. After eating an extremely healthy dinner on day two of dealing with it I have an eleven pound increase in weight. Not a single gurgle in my gut, I actually googled “my intestines feel dead” and came across this site. I was told on phone call to stop taking it immediately and wait two days for when it's out of my system to go get a urine test. I never would have taken these had I seen this site or the fricken giant list of serious side effects…some of them are ridiculous and I feel so much empath | Very, very dangerous drug. I'm glad most don't have reactions but those who are susceptible or unsure, don't let the drs prescribe it to you without a culture to know what bacteria you even have. (Don't just take it without googling the amazingly, stunningly long list of serious side effects and don't just take it cuz someone hands you a paper after a leucocyte positive pee test…culture that. Much empathy to those experiencing adverse reactions. If you take a first dose and have a weird symptom youve never had before, call Dr, but then if they don't care, do what you think is right. Is it a second opinion? Is it more testing prior? Whatever it is DO NOT LET THEM MINIMIZE YOUR SYMPTOMS. The order I wish I had taken: Urine test AND culture Stool test Candida culture Blood test If you're at all worried, please find out what bacteria you're actually killing with the medicine before its your own inner biome and/or organs. | F | 41 | 7 days 160 mg 2X day | 12/23/2022 | 1 | Belly Dysbiosis | I started taking it like prescribed and for the first 4-5 days did not feel any side effects except poor sleep from it (insomnia). On around day 6 I woke up with heart palpations, flutters and a weird headache. I felt so much anxiety that day but didn't think anything of it. I continued taking it that day and until Sunday. On Sunday, the symptoms did not go away and I still felt off with heart flutters every so often, palpations and feeling I couldn't catch a breathe. Finally, I decided bactrim has something to do with it and I decided I wasn't going to take it on Monday morning. It's been about 48 hours since my last dose and I'm still recovering from the side effects: less palpations, random heart flutters and depressive thoughts. All I can think of is getting this completely out of my system with tons of water and electrolytes. Never again! First time caused extreme nausea and I was vomiting for 12+ hours after 5 days of taking it. I stopped after I started getting migraines and was feeling extremely nauseous again. I was suffering from fatigue and felt very weak. I felt so sick and was scared my infection was getting worse. It's been about 2 days since I stopped taking it and I still feel terrible. I still feel tired and weak all the time. I'm also still experiencing some flu-like symptoms. Pretty sure Bactrim gave me a yeast infection too, which I am now trying to treat along with my UTI. | I really advise you not to take it. I don't even think it's worth a try. There are better and safer antibiotics out there for UTIs. I never used to believe these reviews/comments until I experienced it myself. I also never had bad side effects from other antibiotics until Bactrim.
