| 1 | Uti | Mom got diagnosed with a uti, in june 2018. (Had a complete physical, including bloodwork may 15th, and was in great shape, including her kidneys). Only symptom was being a little tired. Dr put her on bactrim on a thurs afternoon. By sunday, she was so weak, i had to put my arms, under her arms to left her to her feet if she was seated in a chair. (Previously, she was mobile, vacuuming, grocery shopping, bending over to pick up dog poop, etc. Didnt use a cane or anything.). On monday morning she was too weak to be able to get out of bed, without my brother pulling her upright. Went to dr monday, they ran bloodwork and took her off bactrim. Wednesday morning they called and said to get her admitted to the hospital, as she was in acute kidney failure. 1 month in hospital, 7 dialysis treatments, then she died 11 days later. I did read later that bactrim can knock out the tubules to your kidneys. However, I have been experiencing heart palpitations, fast and shallow breathing, chest heaviness, rapid and heavy heart beat at rest. When I am up and moving around I do not notice these symptoms as much, only when I am resting (sitting, driving, laying down), I would notice the most. I would feel light headed, like I would pass out at times when my heart rate is fast. These symptoms started when I took my last pill and it has been more than a week and I am still experiencing these heart symptoms. They come and go and some days I feel the symptoms more. This time once again I was traveling and was given vaccinations before I left. I guess the bacteria got into the vaccination site and by the time I got home my arm was extremely swollen and painful. This is my second day on Bactrim and it’s already improving. Keep in mind that my experience and everyone else’s experience may or may not be the same experience you will encounter when taking this antibiotic. However, mine was exactly what everyone has mentioned on this site. At first I thought I was losing my mind before I found out about this site. I actually thought I had the flu or something because I started getting nauseated, having bad headaches, and wasn’t eating anything. I would even try to make myself eat but I could never get threw my first bite. When I found this site I was like okay so these side effects are normal. I then started reading how some people said that it makes you feel like your on your death bed. I was like okay kinda dramatic but after day 3 when I couldn’t get out of bed without becoming nauseated and severely weak I knew they really meant it makes you feel like you are dying. At one point I started thinking what if it’s not from the Bactrim what if something is deathly wrong with me(which was the paranoia). I went to my doctor a total of 5 times and the ER 3. Sunburn sometimes | About 25 years ago my skin started to always feel like it was on fire. My skin would always ache. My skin would always feel inflamed. I would ache all over. There is absolutely nothing to see. But it hurts! I've been to probably over 100 doctors. Pain cause depression, So I've taken many different types of meds for the depression. After about 10 years of pain, I was put bactrim to clear up a skin rash. Suddenly all my skin pain disappeared. The rash went away, but when I stopped the bactrim mu skin pain returned. Started bactrim back up, most skin pain disapated. Currently I take lyrica and the bactrim every day. Sometimes I take one bactrim, some times 2 daily. Believe me this drug works!!! No side effects. I love this stuff!! I was told by my dermatologist at Penn State Medical Center that bactrim has an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin. He said all dermatologists know this. He said it's a safe long term drug. He said it's no worse than taking a blood pressure pill every day. This is a Penn State doctor! This drug has given me hope. I've tried to stop it many times but the pain comes right back. I have no side effects except for sunburn sometimes. I have taken it for 15 years now. Can't live without it. Please don't encourage others to remove this drug from the market. Trip to the doctor in a few days.. I really hope this goes away. Terrified to be alone or go to sleep due to the severity of the side effects.
