1 | seasonal allergies "Beware" | After taking just one pill in the evening I awoke to numbness in my right side and a feeling of pins and needles. After 4 days I still have numbness in the palm of my hand the fatty part of my upper arm , stomach and thigh all on the right side.Fatty tissue area.Anyone else had this problem? Dr. told me to take 25 mg of Benadril every 4 hours for a day......I hope that this helps !!!!!!!!! | F | 61 | 1 days | 11/23/2005 | 1 | inflamed airway | Anger, racing thoughts of paranoia, began to feel as I did when first diagnosed with depression which had been under control, but the Singulair seemed to be overriding the Wellbutrin. I also withdrew from my husband and did not "want to be bothered." All side effects went away with 36 hours of stopping Singulair. | F | 61 | 4 days | 6/2/2008 | 5 | COPD w/ exercise-induced asthma | I haven't experienced negative side effects. | I began taking this when my albuterol inhaler (Proventil) and inhaled corticosteroid (Pulmicort) were not adequately treating my shortness of breath. In subsequent years, my pulmonologist added Spriva, and I am now taking my albuterol via nebulizer. A generic equivalent (montelukast) is now available. I've been reluctant to switch, but the cost difference is substantial. Now I've seen some reviews (on this site and elsewhere) from people who, like me, had a good, long-term experience with the brand drug, but began experiencing seriously negative side effects when they switched to the generic. I wonder if anyone else has noticed this. | F | 62 | 8 years 10 MG 1X day | 3/10/2013 | 5 | Allergies year round | Not sure if recent dizziness is associated to This medication.Very dizzy in the morning and sometimes all day. | I am taking the cheaper version Montelukast | F | 62 | 2 years 10mg 1X day | 8/29/2020 | 4 | Cough | None that I'm aware of. | Hacking cough seems to be better. Not as much blowing my nose. | F | 62 | 2 months 30 mg 1X day | 6/1/2022 | 4 | asthma | After first dose of generic by Torrent, I developed hives. Took me several days to figure out it was the generic singulair. Stopped it and hives have gotten better. Otherwise, no problems with any of the other generics I have gotten in the past. Started a Medrol dose pack to help relieve the residual itching from hives and doing much, much better. No more scalding hot showers in the middle of the night for me. | F | 62 | 8 years 10 1X day | 11/12/2014 | 3 | for allergy-induced asthma | Completely strung out, exhausted, fatigued, nervous, anxious, headache | I cut dosage to 5 mg. a day; still had strong side effects. Have stopped taking it for two days and already, more relaxed, calm, no headache. I don't take drug in evening as I don't want a hellish night, so i take it during day and muddle through. May stop entirely, but it does seem to help somewhat with asthmatic reaction to allergies. Still, is it really worth it with other drug options out there? Singulair degrades my sense of quality of life--enjoying life and being present to oneself, family and friends. | F | 62 | 2 weeks 10 mg 1X day | 5/4/2012 | 1 | COPD, breathing problems | took 2 different times. wasn't sure what med was my problem. started cortef same time. last time took 3 days. head itching, red spots in scalp, flaking, BP went up, can't sleep, shaking, face red, attention span not good. was in hospital for anxiety befor starting these 2 new meds. Don't like what i read about side effects every1 is having! | M | 62 | 3 days 30mg 1X day | 3/5/2013 | 1 | Allergic Rhinitus | I was given the generic drug, Montelukast, which made me feel ill and made my allergy symptoms worse. | I had already had some dizziness due to my allergies, I can’t take the any of the antihistamines so my ENT doc put me on this. At first I thought it was helping, but now I realize the only reason I felt better for the first few days was because I was also on a Medrol dose pack, which always makes me feel better. Over the course of the following two weeks after I completed the dose pack, I steadily felt worse and worse, with considerable nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, exhaustion, chills, low back pain, stuffy nose, and increased dizziness. Even though I had read over the possible side effects when I started the Montelucast , I guess I never believed I would have them and they were in the beginning quite insidious. I finally realized how horrible I was feeling, to the point I could barely function two days ago, and a light bulb went off. I read over the side effects again and bingo. I stopped the drug night before last, dizziness is less, stuffy nose is better, nausea and back pain are gone. I’m still very tired, but that could be partially due to lack of sleep last night. I’ve never experienced side effects this bad from any drug I’ve ever taken. I’m not sure how something this bad could be good for anyone, even if they don’t have side effects, makes me question what could it cause long term? | F | 62 | 22 days 10mg 1X day | 7/26/2018 | 5 | seasonal allergies | none | wonder drug for me, for my whole life i stayed inside during the late summer until it frosted. singulair is the ONLY medication i have ever taken that has worked for me | M | 63 | 5 years 1X day | 6/2/2013 | 5 | Asthma | none | You have to make sure you follow directions and take every night. | F | 63 | 15 months | 12/8/2002 | 4 | excercise induced asthma | extreme fatigue, unexplained depression, mood swings | M | 63 | 6 months | 7/3/2006 | 2 | Allergic rhinitis, TMD | Extreme lethargy, dry mouth, sleepiness, depressed mood, increased appetite, weight gain. | Does get rid of backdrip for a few hours, but it quickly returns. The downside is barely being able to function or stay awake. If you suffer from mild depression, this will make it much worse. I was on it for 2 days and gained 2 pounds. If I'm willing to put up with the weight gain, Benadryl works much better. | F | 63 | 2 days | 3/14/2016 | 1 | Chronic Cough/Bronchitis | Loss of appetite, nausea, couldn't fall asleep, lay awake for hours, very anxious/hyper, changes in breathing pattern, faster heart rate, palpitations. | This drug has way too many side effects. Would rather cope with my cough than all these other maladies. Will not take again. Pharmacist & Dr should be more aware & warn people. I suffer with anxiety & depression already; this drug made it 10 times worse. | F | 63 | 4 weeks 10 1X day | 2/8/2016 | 1 | Asthma | Dizziness, loss of muscle strength in legs and back, overall pain in joints and headache daily. Well I could breath better but what a cost....plus insomnia, sleeping every 3rd day. No more. | F | 63 | 4 weeks 10 mg. | 3/11/2013 | 1 | sinus infection | I take very few medications, but my doctor suggested I try taking singular for a few days (before putting me on antibiotics) to help relieve my sinus infection and runny nose. It did help with my breathing. However after taking this medication for just 2 days by the second day I was experiencing joint pain and anxiety. I then decided to go on line to find out with others have experienced and now I know I was not just imagining these side effects. No more singular for me. | F | 63 | 2 days | 10/21/2007 | 5 | Seasonal asthma | None | Wonderful medicine. Totally erased my seasonal asthma. I can now breathe! | M | 64 | 1 months 10 MG 1X day | 5/25/2013 | 5 | for severe asthma | None that I know of.Am tired during the day but not sure if that is due to Singulair. Will taking it at night decrease its effectiveness during the day? | I take Pulmicort every morning but was using Maxair, the rescue inhaler, as often as 12 times EVERY DAY and sometimes more often. Since taking Singulair for the past few years, I use the rescue inhaler maybe once a month, often less! Singulair has greatly improved my life. | F | 64 | 4 years | 3/13/2006 | 5 | severe asthma | None | It has changed my life for the better. I can now breathe and be active, walk, play golf etc. I was steroid dependent prior to taking Singulair. It has been a miracle drug for me. | F | 64 | 11 years 10 mg 1X day | 4/12/2010 | 5 | Asthma allergies | Did not notice any | I had no wheezing, no itching of the throat | F | 64 | 1 years | 3/9/2016 |
