| 5 | insomnia/racing mind | 20 minutes after I take it and am half asleep I get up to eat cereal because I feel like I'm "starving". Slowly feel like memory is an issue (given I have been on it for 7 going on 8 yrs) | Honestly, I love Seroquel. I was given 100mg, BUT I cut them into 25mg. Sleep great! ... but I do need to get in like 9 hrs. I have have quit taking them for a month before because I ran out and it was tough but this time I am quitting because it truly does leave long term effects to your memory, and in no way want to have Alzheimer's or Parkinsons or dimensia. I am getting injections of super B complex, eating and juicing organic, I take my Klonopin as needed for anxiety and am going to talk to my doctor about going on a low dose anti-depressant. Sedated feeling. Weight gain. When I was first started on seroquel in 2007 at 600mg 1x/day, I was Extremely manic which included having delusions and hallucinations. It took some time for it to kick in. I remember still having delusions when first starting the medication. For some reason though I kept taking it even though I've always hated taking psych meds and have stopped and started them soo many times. In about a month is when I started to become "normal" again. After the delusions and mania stopped I felt very lethargic and depressed since I was on such a high dose. Long story short, over the past 5-6 years, my dose has been decreased to 50mg, which is what I am taking now. This med has been a lifesaver for me and although it sucked putting weight on, it's better then being mentally sick. Also take lamictal 200mg/day, wellbutrin 75mg 2x/day, vistaril 25mg prn anxiety. I feel very lucky to have found a combination of meds that keep me even-keeled. It is a long process with trying to find what works for you but when you find the right meds, it makes all the difference! | F | 27 | 6 years 50mg | 3/9/2012 | 5 | bipolar2 w/depression | small amount of weight loss but nothing else. maybe? some grogginess in the morning but 1 cup of coffee fixes this. | highly recommend a small dose. No real adverse effects for me. Sometimes I feel my emotions are a little stunted, but I was highly emotional before so it’s not necessarily bad. My anxiety is under control for the first time in years since my trauma, and it has allowed me to use less benzos as well. I use Seroquel in conjunction with Zoloft, Klonopin and Xanax (which I now use rarely because panic attacks are scarce thanks to Seroquel). I never thought I could live a semi-normal life again after my trauma but this drug brings me back down to earth. I do not feel sluggish or terrible during the day, just calm and not worrying about every little thing anymore. I can do my job more efficiently and have no problems thinking or feeling slow as others have reported. Please note that people are more likely to report bad results than good in anything (yelp, Glassdoor, etc.), and I think that’s the case for drugs as well. I don’t think the average score really reflects how people feel in a wider scale, because most people aren’t on here telling you the positives. | Seroquel saved my life... it was prescribed to me as an off-label insomnia treatment since no other sleep meds would work. I would often go a week without even a wink of sleep, be shaking uncontrollably throughout the day and night, have panic attacks constantly, would start my morning vomiting from stress, and couldn’t think straight. I was diagnosed with major depression and panic disorder back in 1999 at age 16 and was placed on Paxil by my psychiatrist. I experienced SEVERE mood swings (euphoria and rage), hallucinations, night terrors, and blackout periods. The final straw was suicidal thoughts. My mom called the doctor and he immediately took me off the Paxil "cold turkey" and put me on Seroquel for 2 weeks while the Paxil got out of my system. It calmed my mood swings and made me tolerable to be around again. I also stopped experiencing suicidal thoughts. I have a very sensitive body when it comes to sedative like drugs. Zyprexa, Saphris (THE WORST FOR ME!), Geodon, all knocked me out and I was MISERABLE on them. I almost rather be not medicated than to be on those drugs. (And that's saying something!) The Seroquel really did help though, I was just really tired all the time. I spoke to my psychiatrist and he changed me from XR (Extended release, it releases the medications all day long) to standard Seroquel. Life has finally become more and more normal. I'm able to clean my house! Maintain a schedule! Hold a job! I do struggle with sleepiness sometimes, and when I exercise, it aggrevates that symptom, but it's worth it. Also, I swear my memory has gone down the drain. I used to be so smart and able to recall anything, and now I feel I'm not able to remember as much. NOthing I can really do though because you've got to pick your poison. Crazy in a really bad way, or crazy in a kinda bad way. lol Right now I am on 100 mg Lamictal, 300 mg Lithium, 100 mg Seroquel. NOTICE: Every prescription is different for every person! Some have loved some that I couldn't stand! It's really a trial and error thing.
