After 4 months pain started in upper abdominal area so Dr. upped my dose. After months of having upper ab pain I noticed the pain went away after I slept all night. I didn’t take both doses one day as an experiment and no pain or bloating. I went 3 days without taking and acid burn came back in stomach and throat. I started taking again for one day then went to Dr. He didn't really think omeprazole was causing my issue but decided to try an experiment. He sai only take 20mg a day and take 40mg famotidine (Pepcid AC) at night. So far two weeks later I feel great. Gonna start taking omeprazole every other day and Pepcid still at night. Hope this helps. Omeprazole for sure causes upper ab ache like you drank to much soda. In 2014 my doctor put me on Omeprazole for upper left stomach pain, which did not help it. I never experienced acid reflux until after about a year or 2 when I missed a dose. So in Feb, 2021 I decide to quit taking PPI's cold turkey, after learning of possibly having low stomach acid and all my sickness was created by this little tiny pill. After stopping I than developed LPR symptoms from the rebound acid. It was so bad I got chronic laryngitis. Now that I take the PPI's again all LPR symptoms are gone. I have muscle pain, joint pain, low vitamin D, B and magnesium, acid reflux, arm pit pain, eye pain and headaches. I also have sever anxiety that turns into panic attacks. I have never had any of these symptoms until I got on Omeprazole, I spent thousands of dollars trying to find out what is wrong with me and every test comes back fine. It took years to connect the dots. DO NOT EVER TAKE THIS BS. If you want to stop you have to ween yourself off or you will have very bad symptoms as I did and the doctors will not believe you. They will only increase your dosage. The doctors are unwilling to help ween me off. One doctor has increased the dosage and my other doctor said just stop taking it. Hoping that goes away completely soon. Headaches were bad at the beginning but have slowly improved. By far the worst experience I’ve ever had with a drug. The docs didn’t know what to make of it all and of course aren’t going to admit it was omeprazole that caused it.
