The shocking side effect were the neurological and mood-related; anxiety, dizziness, tinnitus, increased adrenaline, etc. | My advice is stop taking this drug immediately, if you just started. You may get rebound symptoms, be ready to treat them w/ ant-acids. If you've been taking this a while, then go off it slowly while also using ant-acids. For those who experience neurological & mood symptoms, stop eating high-tyramine foods, this drug limits your ability to digest them and acts as an MAOI, best to fast and eat clean fresh foods only. At the time I did not link the two as I thought the increase in symptoms was due to stress of the pandemic. About 4 months into taking omeprazole I started getting UTI's which I never had experienced before. I was getting 1 every 4-6 weeks and could not understand why. I also had constant bowel problems either diarrhoea or constipation, along with heart palpitations. A year into taking the drug and with worsening reflux symptoms the doctor double my dose to 40MG per day. Within 2 weeks or this I started experiencing bloating stomach symptoms. With the doctors telling me I had IBS or a dietary intolerance I continued to take this medication for a further 8 months! The UTIs and bloating proceeded to get worse, with constant stomach pains and bloating that never goes down, bloating that can only be described as like constant pregnant stomach. I even ended up having UTIs for over 3 weeks without being able to treat them. The bloating has ruined my self esteem and I live in fear of getting yet another UTI. After finding breakthrough reviews across the internet I started to wean myself of these tablets 4 months ago, eventually shopping taking them 2 months ago (end March). I am still experiencing all symptoms currently and am worried this is irreversible. | Please can anyone tell me how long it took for their side effects to ease, I am so worried I will never get back to myself after taking these for so long. After taking it, the testicular pain returned and I still have it now. Had endoscopy and had a mild case of esophagitis and mild ulceration. Doc said only way to get better fast was the PPI and not H2. First week was okay but had horrible bout of diaharrea. Went to the ER this past weekend because I convinced myself I had MS because I started having tingling in my right leg and random other sensations. Docs did every test including nerve conduction and assured me I am fine.
