Plavix just sent me a letter saying they will no longer have the assistance program and that I can now go on generic. My cardiologist has already informed me that generic will not work good for me. I cannot afford the expensive plavix, heck, I cant even afford to go to see cardiologist. My pills run out in a couple months. He was prescribed clopidogel and was doing well for a while until he developed a chest infection, which, in spite of antibiotics spread to his lungs. He was admitted to hospital at the beginning of March after collapsing at home and although a senior consultant told him he also had emphysemia, bronchitis and fluid on his lungs he would be able to cure him "quickly and easily". He died just a few days later. The doctor in attendance told me a few hours before that they initially took him off plavix and he improved and when reintroduced he deteriorated they took him off again. Some cardiologists say you can sstop after a year or so and some say no to that and one must stay on it for life?
